What does "very little of spark plugs left" mean? Flashing engine light means excessive misfiring with unburned fuel entering the catcon. Left this way, the catcon can destroy itself in less than 50 miles of driving with the flashing engine light.

With a well worn engine, did you try a compression test? Borrowing a compression gauge from Autozone or Advance Auto may help with diagnosing this. Autozone has free readings just by visiting them.
