Re: Mixing orange and green antifreeze

If youíre putting coolant in and itís not going in, you might have a bad water pump, the impeller might have failed.

Re: Occasional P0440 EVAP leak

I wasn't sure what other tubes to look for, I just made sure the ones at the top of the engine and running down to the solenoid were ok. If I get under it again, I'll look for the other one and see...

Re: Occasional P0440 EVAP leak

So far I've checked everything engine-side that leads up to the EVAP solenoid and I verified there are no cracks or leaks, but I don't have a way to test the solenoid itself (also because it's a pain...

Re: Suddenly no blower fan

Well, my confidence jumped up a bit and I decided to just go for it. I learned some things along the way too. For instance, you don't HAVE to pull the fuses out of the box to pull the back off.

Re: Suddenly no blower fan

Finally got to look deeper into the problem. I wasn't getting power to the fan from the relay, though the relay works fine.

The pin that sends power from the relay to the fan wasn't making...

Suddenly no blower fan

Ugh, of course I just get the A/C recharged and now my blower fan has quit.

Here's what I know/did:

One of the leads on the relay looks like it melted and the lead itself was loose.

The plug...

Re: A/C Recharged, Everything Working Fine

Yeah, the guy at the shop agreed that it was a better move that I replaced the entire compressor instead of just the clutch (aside from the fact it was only $30 more for the whole thing) because his...

A/C Recharged, Everything Working Fine

Fiiiinally got the car in to get the A/C recharged today. They ran the vacuum on it and said it was holding steady, so no leaks like I originally thought when I first got the car.

New compressor...

Re: Radio? iPhone?

One of the first things I did when I got my car earlier this year was replace the CD with a nice Pioneer media receiver (no CD).

Re: Let The Headliner Repair Begin!

I like it, so much nicer than tattered and smoky smelling, that's for sure!

Re: New A/C compressor

I'm about to get my system recharged this Friday after having my new compressor installed (FINALLY). I'm also gonna be doing an experiment with some reflective IR barrier insulation. It's silver on...

Re: Under-seat jackpot!

lol, yep, time is the one thing I didn't have. It's rare for me to have two days off in a row, so there was no way I'd be able to do all that in one day. It's ok, though, there are some stains that...

Under-seat jackpot!

Found some treasures under the passenger seat. Sadly, no money or Hoffa's body.

If anyone read some of my first posts, I mentioned the car was owned by a smoker (or more than one) and I've been...

Re: 00 SL1 Shaking while Still with smooth idle.

I've noticed the same thing with my car, it idles great, especially after all the tune-up stuff I've done. Idles perfectly at 650 in gear and 700-750 in park. Gets almost 33MPG and shifts fine...

Re: Painting the Headliner?

Taking it in to have it done isn't a bad idea, but most shops will probably charge nearly normal garage labor rates, plus they'll charge more for fabric and supplies.

Doing it yourself can be...

Re: How did you get involved with Saturn

Ahh, you'd enjoy having a Fiero then. Same basic concept, except ALL the panels are plastic/fiberglass around a frame and having the engine in the rear really makes them fun in the winter because...

Re: Painting the Headliner?

I put up a thread here when I redid mine:

Couldn't find the exact color, but black goes well with it and it's not like everyone in the...

Re: Economy ? Seriously ?

You're close. The wiki page says the S-Series has a 12.8 gallon tank with an average 32mpg (automatic), which my math confirms. I hit almost 33mpg during one run.

I know someone's gonna tell me...

Occasional P0440 EVAP leak

I've had this nagging 0440 code that pops up nearly exactly every two weeks and at the same time of day on the same road every time it happens.

The first thing I started with was replacing the gas...

Re: 02' SL1 A/C, rear defroster, and recirculate buttons not working.

Don't feel embarrassed, even the most stout of mechanics forget something so simple on occasion.

Re: How do I keep this from popping out?

You got me curious now because I went out to look at mine and it's a solid piece, like it's pressed into the casting of the cover. Wish I had more info.

Re: Let The Headliner Repair Begin!

I agree! I kinda like the contrast too and that it matches the dash which is almost always black in these particular cars.

I did just install some radiant heat barrier underneath it, I don't know...

Re: Aftermarket A/C Condenser Fan Installation

From what I've been reading in the forums, that's just the way these cars were.

I would bet the Focus was priced higher than any of these Saturns and probably had more power with better parts,...
