Re: What would you do?

I sold my 2002 L200 with almost 60,000 miles and never had any tire issues. I replaced the stock Firestones with Potenza 950's when the Firestones had low miles on them to improve the handling. The...

Re: To rotate or not to Rotate ?

I vote for rotation. I usually buy tires from COSTCO. High turnover means fresher tires. Tires on sale in town are usually older. COSTCO always hand torques the lug nuts. Their road hazard can't be...

Sold My L200

Sold my 02 L200 this last Saturday. The first couple that came to see it bought it on the spot. It was good to me and never let me down. Sad to see it go, but three cars were too many for me. Finally...

Re: Mixing Synthetic Oil with Dino

Thanks Marmaduke,
I have to read up on these oil terms you've used. However, I thought that M1 was a full synthetic. I also have 1 qt of 10 -30 Mobil Clean 7500 mile synthetic blend. Now I'm just...

Re: Mixing Synthetic Oil with Dino

After reading on the net I answered my own question. Not going to mix brands. Just going to add Mobil regular or sythetic blend so I won't have any problem with the different additives. Supposed to...

Re: Spark plug controversy

Have lots of experience with Bosch plugs in my old BMW. It called for silver plugs, that worked fine with a classic style electrode. However, when I tried Bosch platinum plugs with the ceramic...

Re: L series turbo?

Will the kit and tuning change the compression ratio and require that you use premium gas? Probably a dumb question but I'd be a lot more inclined to do this if the answer was no.

Thanks.

Re: Spark plug controversy

My vote is with the AC Delco's, part # 41-981. Also, I don't believe any plug that says that it's already gapped. I always check and gap them myself.

Wrench Re: Service Engine Soon

Gary, don't feel bad. Many of us have done this too. I used engine cleaner on a Camaro and I was living in Germany at the time. Engine ran rough so I counted the flashes on the diagnostic, which...

Checkered Flag Re: Tuning Support for the 4-cyl L-series

Thanks for the good news Phil! I've been trying to sell by 02 L200 but now I may change my mind and hold onto it and sell my old Volvo. Taking pics of the Volvo today. The L200 definitely got a worse...

Re: Very odd smell

What a mystery! How odd that it only happened with the heater and floor vent on. Maybe the floor vent was cooking some remnants of a cigarette butt that was ground into the carpet.

If it comes...

Re: Very odd smell

Here's my cure for the musty smell that sometimes comes out when you turn on the air conditioning. Whenever I use the air I always turn off the air conditioning and then run just the fan for several...

Placing My Ad in Saturnfans.com

Selling my 02 L200 because I'm all alone with three cars. I inherited my Dad's Buick and I bought an old Volvo for my son, who was then given another car. Going to place my L in the classified ads...

P.S. Citation

If I wasn't already paying insurance on four cars I would be interested in your SL1. It's a great car! It breaks my heart that they stopped making the S series.

Good luck to you and Merry...

Re: Need to Sell My Beloved L200

You are right Citation. They are more than just cars. We also want them to be well taken care of, even after we let them go. When I was stationed in Germany I bought a beautiful old BMW 728. It even...

Re: Need to Sell My Beloved L200

<<Does the timing chain problem apply to all L-Series cars?>>

Not a dumb question. I've been asking myself this ever since I discovered that this is an issue. It seems most complaints are with car...

Correction - "the dad after I bought it"

This should read - the day after I bought it. Sorry.

Need to Sell My Beloved L200

I love my 2002 L200 but I have too many cars. I inherited a 97 Buick LeSabre and I don't want to sell it because it has sentimental value. The Buick now has 51,000 and is in mint condition. Dad was...

Thumbs Up Re: 2000 L series whistling noise

My 2002 L200 had a cracked intake manifold. I think that it may have been damaged when someone (a well meaning new Saturn owner) tried to improperly unscrew the oil filter cap and the socket wrench...

Re: L-series exhaust

I had my catalytic converter fail. I was accelerating hard on the freeway and I suddenly had a very noticeable power drop. If you didn't experience a loss of power it's not going to be your cat. Good...

Re: Gas Mileage in L 200 2.2

Have a 2002, L200 with almost 58,000 miles. Have other cars, but I use the L as my daily driver now. I have averaged 28 mpg in combined driving when I'm being cautious. I'm sure that I can get over...

Re: Resale Value of L200 - Value Max

Thanks Uzzy. I agree that new drivers, especially boys, should drive clunkers at first. Ran into a friend yesterday and she told me that she's selling her old Volvo 240. I agreed to buy it for $500....
