Re: Trying to adjust Saturn branded crossbars

The Saturn branded roof racks are more common than the SL3, but not by much.

Not sure how you plan on moving the crossbars when they're lockable and in the locked position...that's the point of...

Re: Cruise

I believe the only reliable place it's stamped is the bellhousing, between the upper 2 mounting bolts. There might be another stamping of it nearer the coil packs as well....

Re: Fuel Injector Tester cleaner kit EM276 whats your thoughts

Looks expensive when all you need is a 12vdc source, a pigtail from the factory wiper fluid pump* and a can of carb clean.

*unless you have a '02 or late '02 with the funky injectors.

Re: Can 98 SW2 stereo be switched out for stereo with cassette?f

It wouldn't be that hard to make the 3rd gen style radios work in 2nd gen electrically but making them look anything close to "stock" will require a 3D printer and some CAD skills.

eBay used to be...

Re: Can 98 SW2 stereo be switched out for stereo with cassette?f

Any '96-'99 radio is interchangeable.
The better radios have a 5-band EQ, they also have an aux-in option that usually was used for a 6 disc CD changer the SC's and SL's had mounted between the...

Re: 5spd Transmission problem 1998 SL2

99% sure he reused OEM cables (dunno how much he charged, if much over $200 highly likely he bought new OEM cables). You'll have to get the die size from McMaster's listing on the joints to get the...

Re: Just died 5 times at stop lights...

Is it dying while coming up to the stop light, or after idling at the stop light?

If it's while idling at the light:
Without doing any testing at all...I'd blame the crankshaft position sensor....

Re: belt question

The belt diagram should be on the radiator support. Same routing on both SOHC and DOHC, though I believe the optional "no power steering pump" has the belt over the idler rather than under it.

Re: Fuel economy chip?

There's only one "mod" here...the owner, Charlie. For whatever reason he's never delegated mod tasks to anyone else so often it takes weeks if not months to see action on any issues.

The PCM in...

Re: '95 SL2 manual, axle/CV problem

Isn't the test for FWD axles just driving in low speed circles at a high steering angle (near full lock)?
Then the bad axle is the inside one for whichever direction turn you're making (left turn =...

Re: Rewiring DRL's to something else?

The fun part of the S-Series DRL system is if you pull the DRL relay you lose the right side high beam if not the entire right side headlight.

Re: Rewiring DRL's to something else?

Seems simple enough to rewire the DRL's for something else...pull the relay out, fold the offending pin over and use that pin to switch your add-on relay.

Re: REALLY hard to shift - bad cables? bad hydraulics?

How's it shift with the engine off?
Generally if it's fine with the engine off it's clutch/hydraulics related but if it's still messed up then it's cables or internals.

Measurements to take in...

Re: Currently redoing my sound system and I have a question

There is no external factory amp in the S-Series. Just get the normal harness to connect the radio to the car's harness.

Re: 2001 Saturn sc2 dohc 3 door coupe. What are my lowering/suspension upgrade option

The disc brakes used on the S-Series were designed in the 80's and never upgraded...they're weak and the parking brake mechanism breaks quite often especially in the rust belt. If you get a '91-'97...

Re: Time for a sound upgrade!

While you shouldn't have any problems with aftermarket speakers, it's still good to verify they use the 6.75" speaker mounting pattern as the front & rear speakers are 6.75" not 6.5".

1st gens...

Re: A/C Clutch Wiring Connector

It's actually a 2-wire connector with 1 plugged off; you repair it with the 2 wire connector and pop out the pin you don't need. If you want it to look its best when you're done, use a tool like this...

Re: Ever hear of the Olympic edition Joseph Abboud S-series???

Likely just a 1 off promo thing for the '01 Winter Olympics if it were an '00 or '01 model.

Could just be the pictures but while the stitching job doesn't look "bad" it doesn't look like OEM...

Re: Overheat issue

The overheat and underfilled overlays are run by the same bulb.

Flashing means underfilled sensed at the pressure tank, on solid means overtemp sensed.

Often adding just a bit of water fix's...

Re: 1998 SC2, MagnaFlow Exhaust Question

While I agree the aftermarket not knowing what/how their parts fit the S-Series is stupid...GM/Saturn changed it quite often.

Applies to DOHC's, SOHC's likely have similar changes:

Manifolds:...

Re: Tell me what you think of the exhaust

Looks like someone thought they were stealing the catalytic converter and got an empty resonator instead. Then, the welds look like the PO didn't feel brave enough to remove the downpipe from the car...
