Re: no signal from pcm to fuel pump

Yes, if I recall from the 'fuel test port' on the console fuse panel, 12v should be there. Whether 12v appears immediately after turning on the ignition switch for two seconds or appears and remains...

Re: Fuel Trim

Short term fuel trims are immediate changes in air/fuel mixtures. Long term fuel trims, for me are a little more difficult to understand. To understand it better, I have to refer to technical...

Re: no signal from pcm to fuel pump

The ignition switch in '97s switches 12v, nothing else. It's fine presuming switching ignition ON, the pcm powers up and you verified (visually) spark is generated and injectors are operating (wet...

Re: Fuel Trim

Using a digital multimeter may not display a very fast cycling precat O2 sensor as the dvm is slower reacting than switching speeds of O2 sensors. This would appear as a steady voltage reading on...

Re: Odd fuel issue

Do not start the engine. Just turn on ignition. The pcm will run the fuel pump for 2-3 seconds then shut down if the engine isn't started. All GM EFI systems runs the pump this way for safety....

Re: Fuel Trim

Are you aware that front and rear O2 sensors operate differently from each other as well as have different priorities? The intake manifold/upstream of the catcon sensor fluctuates/cycles many times...

Re: Odd fuel issue

When first turning on ignition, not starting, what's immediate fuel pressure? The near instant full pressure is what's important for instant starting in all temperature conditions. Once started and...

Re: Saturn SC2 1996 Intermittent starter problems

When battery negative was disconnected and examined, did you remove battery positive for examination? Positive battery connections corrode more often than negative. To see more corrosion, the bolt is...

Re: Recharge Battery

Service manuals describe most Saturns drawing no more than 50ma (50 milliamp or 0.050 amp) as parasitic current to power Passlock security, radio/pcm/bcm memory. When OnStar depleted its backup...

Re: 2001 SC2 -- Need ignition wiring diagrams

Your crank sensor is probably fine. Weak spark isn't related to a faulty crank sensor. You're likely describing a faulty ignition control module (ICM). As long as 12v is powering the icm and all four...

Re: Torrent or Equinox parts?

Perhaps there's a way to tell if Vue, Torrent and Equinox parts are interchangeable by using GM online parts lists. I think GM consolidated dealer websites insofar as parts for a national website...

Re: Saturn SC2 1996 Intermittent starter problems

Here's a corroded positive side terminal from the underside. You might not see this on the front side. GM uses heavy duty battery terminal covers that can easily hide corrosion.

If you can,...

Re: Saturn SC2 1996 Intermittent starter problems

Charging a phone battery may take up to 2 amps. A dead battery can still charge a phone battery. Starters take anywhere from 50-150 amps+. Dead batteries or discharged ones having less than a full...

Re: Saturn SC2 1996 Intermittent starter problems

Re: Saturn SC2 1996 Intermittent starter problems

That's a blanket statement and you may be missing the big picture of a typical 12v starting circuit with several wires. The battery cables are large gauge because the starter requires anywhere from...
