Re: New lowering springs : is there any rubber part I should also replace?

Yep, I have ES rear sway bar bushings already, that I modified to be greasable (added a groove inside, a hole and a zerk fitting). Not as good as the fronts, that are factory greasable ES bushings,...

Re: New lowering springs : is there any rubber part I should also replace?

For those who are wondering the K160073 rear coil spring isolators from Moog fit like a glove on the Megan springs. I installed 4 of them and they fit just as well on the top and bottom of the...

Re: New coil springs : what rubber parts should I also be changing?

So far I have 4 Moog rear coil spring insulators on order (K160073). Wondering if it's worth it to also order the upper front coil spring seat (Moog K160117). Do these need attention after 120k miles?

New coil springs : what rubber parts should I also be changing?

Well after 10 years in the salt my Eibachs have had it, and I ordered some new Megan springs. My question is what do people usually replace at the same time? I found a rear lower lower rubber...

Unless you enjoy changing them, don't go cheap. If you are paying for labour, this goes double. Best one I found was the...

Re: Aftermarket mods for an 06 Vue

Check my sig. Most mods I did as an upgrade, when parts were wearing out. If you do poly bushings, make sure to wrap your bar in multiple layers of teflon tape before install, and use waterproof...

Pesky oil leak near camshaft cover (pics included)

Looks like my good old camshaft cover? oil leak is back. Not that (ahem) I did redo the gasket as I initially thought it was the cause of all my oil leaks, but it only has started to drip on the...

Re: Onstar Microphone

I believe the difference between the installs that work fine (good volume) and the ones that are really quiet have nothing to do with shielding, and everything to do with microphone impedance. The...

Re: 07 5 speed Vue : notchy 1st and 2nd gear

Any news? :)

Reposting because I just changed the shifter cables. All gears are pretty much smooth now, except 1st gear, which is still notchy and hard to engage. i fear I am somehow damaging my...

Re: Drum Brakes dragging

At 99k miles on the drums, you'll have the wear lip from hell. Even with everything backed out to the nines, I suspect you will have trouble getting the drums off. if you are in the salt belt, the...

Re: Removing rear brake drum on '04 Vue

Confirmed, you can deform them. Mine were seized on the hubs, wanted to take them off to paint them.

Big mistake. Not only was the inside lip unreal, my cousin had to take the 10 pound sledge to...

Re: 2.2L/2.4L Ecotec Engine cover?

I had to check, it looks like a little less than 15 ft-lb loss?

I wish people would get more data in the 2000 rpm range. i would kill for a 15 tq bump at 2k.

All moot for me until the price...

Re: Oil leak after clutch and diff replacement

Stop leak did not work.

After the denial phase, I got the bad news in writing. Rear main seal leak.

8 hours of labour, and 100$ in parts (seal and all the pesky torque to yield flywheel and...

Re: 2.2L/2.4L Ecotec Engine cover?

Looks clean but I'd get the 2.4L intake before I got this.

BTW they have skyrocketed in price, most places want 400$ now vs 100$ a few years ago...

Re: Oil leak after clutch and diff replacement

Well, looks like a rear main seal. I suspect it was already leaking a bit, and the new clutch may have put it over the top.

Against my better judgement in put in some Rislone Rear Main Seal...

Re: Beginner Mods?

Tom,

I actually found the info on a Ion Redline Forum... Though these are specifically for a 04 AWD Vue (they should all be the same, fit fine for me).

Swaybar bushings:
Energy Suspension part...

Re: Beginner Mods?

I realy like the OBX LSD, but it was pricey in the end. Clutch is nice too, but only if you need one.

The polyurethane sway bar bushings are a no-brainer though. So are lowering springs. I would...

Re: Oil leak after clutch and diff replacement

It's definitely engine oil. Just got some UV dye, I will clean off the back of the engine as best I can, and run the engine to temperature with the dye. This should tell me where it's coming from....

Oil leak after clutch and diff replacement

I just replaced the clutch with a Centerforce DF, and put in an OBX limited slip differential.

I changed both axle seals and checked them, they look good. The camshaft seal was sweating (and...

Re: New Centerforce DF clutch and OBX LSD

The Centerforce DF clutch on the Vue does not have the centrifugal weights they are famous for. Pamphlet says if you don't have them, its because they did not fit in your application.

I have heard...
