Re: Where to find 1991 SL2 body parts for body shop

oh no, just reuse the ones holding on the broken panel. spray them with penetrant oil before removal in case of rust. if there are any fasteners the replacement panel doesn't have a spot for, just...

Re: Where to find 1991 SL2 body parts for body shop

it will fit, most likely the change was a reduction in the number of fasteners holding it on. i've observed that 1991 cars have the most fasteners holding things like body panels and the cam cover...

Re: All to common coolant leak at the intake manifold

dorman's quality control is legendary for being awful. i think they only get away with it because they are the only ones making many of the parts they sell. i've had issues with malformed threads on...

Re: Engine swap 02 SC2 - non air pump head?

glad to help! :)

true, although the design of the plastic manifold supposedly does flow better. if you're interested in making more power (upgrading the intake tube and exhaust, for example)...

Re: E-15... what's the plan?

i run e15 in my cars when i can get it cheaper, it's one point higher octane (86) than the cheap gas (85) around here but it sure does burn off quicker. i usually see 2-5 lower mpg so it may be a...

Re: Weird Idling Issues, Worsening Over Time

yep, the tps is usually the culprit with issues like that... been there, done that on janus.

what you need is one of these...

Re: Seeking a transmission recommendation.

it is truly a shame, but well, i suppose his username wasn't youngnuc. his advice truly is legend on this forum.

Re: Engine swap 02 SC2 - non air pump head?

nope, only ca (and ca-compliant states, whatever those were in '99-02) cars have it. janus is an '00 and it never had that system. pandora is a '99 and same thing, no precat or air. i've also seen a...

Re: Need to replace a line... how should I?

maybe someone managed to drop it on the exhaust manifold while adding oil! :p

oh, and once you get an elbow assortment, i would replace both of them (one on either end of the plastic line) to save...

Re: 2001 Saturn sl2, maintenance questions and more.

i've got a set of lowering springs on janus, someone in my neighbourhood that used to work on saturns gave them to me for free when he saw my "dealership" out on the side lot. no idea what brand they...

Re: Seeking a transmission recommendation.

for my cars i just bought a pack of 25 replacement roll pins off mcmaster-carr, part no. 91612A241, as per the late oldnuc's advice. the problem with the oem pins is that they're just the "c" shaped...

Re: This must be a supplier thing

it might've just been a manufacturing defect, such things do happen... and i'm lucky here in co but i've never had a brake line rust out on any of my vehicles.

Re: All to common coolant leak at the intake manifold

it's a bit late if you already bought the dorman retrofit kit (i would just install that and see how it goes) but all s-series engines use the same intake manifold flange and you can simply install a...

Re: Rear Main Seal Leak

any shaft seal leak will worsen with higher shaft rpm. vehicle speed doesn't directly correlate, given that you could be in a variety of gears (and therefore the engine and transmission input shaft...

Re: Rear Main Seal Leak

there are a lot of low-quality aftermarket parts out there, but i haven't found seals to be amongst them. the only times i've had seal failures, no matter how cheap or expensive the seal was, were...

Re: Weird Idling Issues, Worsening Over Time

added note: that motor burns very little oil, i burned about 1.5qt going all the way to tucson, az and back. i think most of that went when i got into a bit of a freeway sprint with someone in a...

Re: Rear Main Seal Leak

it never hurts to throw on a new rear main seal, i've done so when i had motors apart numerous times. i also agree that it's not necessary to replace it if it's not leaking, but if the flywheel is...

Re: SC BODY Panels

actually, that's incorrect. the roof panel is a bolted-on part sealed with the same polyurethane as the windows. it does however require removal of the windshield and rear window to replace....

Re: Weird Idling Issues, Worsening Over Time

i'm rocking about 100-110psi on janus, here in denver at 5280ft altitude, and it runs great. not the fastest thing on the road but the "low" compression isn't an issue at all. i think the sohc head...

Re: Need to replace a line... how should I?

that is a pcv vacuum line. it's just the rubber elbow that's broken, they tend to dry out and become brittle with age. the plastic hard line it's attached to (under the foam) should still be fine....

Re: 1999 SOCH auto transmission problems

the sensor in the picture is the turbine shaft speed sensor. and it's normal for some fluid to leak when you pull a temperature sensor, whether it be transmission fluid or engine coolant... slanted...

Re: 2006 Saturn Vue Redline parts for sale

well, the prospect does interest me, but i'm not really keen to spend more than the junkyard charges on one. yeah, i know, typical cheap saturn owner. >.< :p

Re: Rear Main Seal Leak

i don't mean to be rude, but that's terrible advice. high-mileage oils do have some additives that can curb leakage from such seals, but they'll never provide the improvement a replacement seal will....

Re: 2006 Saturn Vue Redline parts for sale

fun fact, that cluster will actually swap into the 3rd gen s-series and the l-series as well. i have a non-redline one of those in janus... it's the same except the font is a serif font rather than...
