Re: Open loop all the time???

PCM pin-outs have certainly been posted here, but the search function for this forum sucks badly. I will try to find, but no guarantees...

Re: Worried engine seized, but hopefully just the Starter

Yeah, same here. Getting that top screw in is a trivial task for me. I don't have ay extra engines or manifold studs laying around, and going to JY for them would be silly, since there is...

Re: Intermittent long crank times when cold?

Are you using live-data to check TP, ECT, and MAP? Throwing parts at it does not ensure that the signal/circuit is OK.

Also, check fuel pressure with a gauge.; and be sure to check when you are...

Re: Low coolant light

The switch is on the trans shift-tower/cover, approximately below the brake master cylinder.

Re: Mixing orange and green antifreeze

Yes, there should be continuous flow through the reservoir; whether the engine is hot or cold. It comes in though a small (3/8" ID, 5/8" OD) hose that connects on the rear of the reservoir filler...

Re: SC1 stalling

Let's start by trying to wean you off of that "pump, pump..." routine. That accomplishes nothing but adding to confusion. No fuel is ever "added" by pumping the accel pedal with these EFI engines....

Re: Mixing orange and green antifreeze

You can disconnect the upper radiator hose, from either the engine or the radiator, then hold the open end of the hose upward and pour into the hose. Usually that hose end can be held up higher than...

Re: MP7 Transmission Lost All Gears

Do you have an IPB? Also, I'll try to attach a "cross-section" diagram of the TAAT. It isn't terribly useful, but may help.

No, the diagram would not attach, probably too large a file. PM me...

Re: MP7 Transmission Lost All Gears

I think the ISN (Input Shaft Nut) is a good possibility. That can be checked/corrected with the trans still in the car.

If the axles, diff pin, and ISN are all OK; then time to pull the VB and do...

Re: Transmission problem

Is this vehicle new to you, with unknown history? If so, I would start by checking LP to see if there is an obvious problem there (after checking fluid level, of course). If LP is OK, then change...

Re: 97 SL1. Any advice on how to get the pressure line back on the power steering pum

I, too, think the male threads on the fitting are OK; but the picture is not quite good enough to be sure.

Did you try connecting without the O-ring? I'm guessing you are not pushing the fitting...

Re: 97 SL1. Any advice on how to get the pressure line back on the power steering pum

Is there an O-ring on that tube/fitting? If so, take the O-ring off and see if you can get the threads to go in.

Re: 97 SL1. Any advice on how to get the pressure line back on the power steering pum

The port threads look OK to me. Have you compared size/pitch to the old one?

Re: 97 SL1. Any advice on how to get the pressure line back on the power steering pum

Take the pump out and compare the port in it very carefully to the port in the old pump; checking for ID of female threads and thread pitch.

Lay the old pump in there loosely and see if you can...

Re: AC Compressor Compatibility

How much fluid to put back in? Yeah, that is a question I had to face also. People often advise to "put back in what you drained"; but like you, I felt it made no sense to put back in a compressor...

Re: ignition test vs. CPS test for no start troubleshooting

Sorry I missed the "old post" clue. As to the spelling/grammer, that seemed no worse than many of the legit posts here; a sad reality of our modern culture.

Re: ignition test vs. CPS test for no start troubleshooting

Wherever you check for spark is OK to see if CKP signal is good.

What problem are you trying to solve; is the engine refusing to start, or keep running, or runs poorly at times? As said above,...

Re: 02 SC2 Intermittent reverse lights

Thanks. Whenever I change an OEM design like that, I wonder if I am doing more harm than good. Nice to know it worked.

Re: 95 sl1 SOHC engine measurements (LxHxW)

I don't have those dimensions available, but can advise that you should be specific about what the engine and trans comprises, since you want "exact dimensions". Specify whether you want things like...

Re: White Smog Can't Catch a break

I think there are two sensors that are roughly below the TB: the CKP sensor and the VSS sensor. They are both 2-wire connectors, but the wires will be different colors. If you can't get a picture,...

Re: Shifter sticking

When cables like that get rusted they can usually be freed up fine by lubing, and then working back-and-forth a bit. This is best done by holding the cable vertical so the lube can easily run down...

Re: 97 sl2 need to tow steering locked

Remove the U-joint at the bottom of the steering column? It looks easy to do on my gen1 cars.

Re: White Smog Can't Catch a break

Sure, FP could set one of those codes; but they could also be set by several other things. If you get one of those codes, you still have no handle on whether FP is OK

Re: So uhhh... there's a hole in my transmission

I am convinced that hole was deliberately cut, to inspect and then remove whatever was banging around in there. You think it was a screw for the pressure-plate that is missing? I would be tempted...
