Re: Forum is dull

We made two major purchases in 2000 and 2001... A decked out L300 Saturn with all the bells and whistles and a 240HP Seadoo Speedster jetboat. I wasn't satisfied with the Seadoo forums so I created...

Re: L300 shake rattle and roll

I'd lean on CV shaft causing the problem.

Much like a U-Joint replacement on a drive shaft. The drive shaft can be installed in a different orientation and the result is bad harmonics while on...

Re: Forum is dull

Our sunroof looks and works like new. Well, now that I said that it will likely break!

I would be interested to learn more about the sunroof. I look forward to reading your future sunroof thread!

Re: 2001 LW300 keeps stalling - please help!

Can you make a short video of the problem occurring? Driving and then poke under the hood.

I believe the problem is an intermittent ground loss or voltage loss. You could put a volt meter...

Re: Gas tank shield

Ours was not quite that bad. I wire brushed it and added a bunch of rust spray and then painted it a couple of times.

I found a new/used subframe in TX. Perhaps you could fine a new/used gas...

Come On Man! Are you rolling down the road like a gangster or did you call the junk yard! Certainly, you can get on ebay and sell some parts to recoup your losses!

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Timing Belt Kit + Camshaft + Crankshaft Seals

FYI Your engine has sat without running for months. You should disable to fuel injectors and spin the engine with the starter to get oil pumping again before you actually try to start it.

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Timing Belt Kit + Camshaft + Crankshaft Seals

Well, don't forget to record a video of the startup and first ride. If anything goes wrong it will be useful to have many eyes and ears on it! Good Luck!

Ps, I have never seen such a clean...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Timing Belt Kit + Camshaft + Crankshaft Seals

Are the spark plugs installed? Yes or No????

I am telling you the "tracking" as you call it will be much worse with the plugs uninstalled because there is no compression tension on the belt to...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Timing Belt Kit + Camshaft + Crankshaft Seals

Loosening the pretension on the tensioner will do one thing... the belt will fail to stay in it's seat (teeth). The belt tensioner will gyrate like crazy under normal operation so stop looking at it...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Timing Belt Kit + Camshaft + Crankshaft Seals

The washer has one function, to space a specific distance between the engine block and the "part". The washer will never spin unless something seriously is screwed up. It makes no difference how it...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Timing Belt Kit + Camshaft + Crankshaft Seals

It sounds like your belt tensioner is gave up the ghost! I had our tensioner go bad and it caused the #1 Cam to jump a tooth. The engine could hardly run and we heard metal to metal noises. I...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Timing Belt Kit + Camshaft + Crankshaft Seals

Alignment is key. I told you that several posts back! You just ignored it!

The problem is the 12 noon idler is adjusted toward the BANK1 cams instead of BANK 2 cams; whereas the belt is...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Timing Belt Kit + Camshaft + Crankshaft Seals

Simply spin the lobe's around to the opposite side and your tracking program will be gone!

To do so, hold the wrench on the idler adjustment while loosening the its bolt. Move lobe to the...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Timing Belt Kit + Camshaft + Crankshaft Seals

Those are initial starting points to install the belt i.e. loosest possible positions. Both idlers need to be adjusted such that the pressure is applied on the 2 to 3 pm side of the adjusted...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Timing Belt Kit + Camshaft + Crankshaft Seals

Both idlers are in the wrong position to apply proper pressure on the belt. And, the tensioner doesn't have nearly enough preload pressure on the belt. The result will be CAM1 and Cam2 will be...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Timing Belt Kit + Camshaft + Crankshaft Seals

You have got to tighten the idlers such that the belt slack is remoted. You haven't hurt anything. The valves can handle a slap. If the engine was running, the engine would be toast. Don't sweat...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Timing Belt Kit + Camshaft + Crankshaft Seals

Brandon, you have unusually thick skull! Listen to me. You Must NOT EVER make timing adjustments while the cam locks are installed! Follow the directions I provided over a dozen times and you will...
