Re: Questions about Partial Rebuild

Hey everyone, sorry about the lack of updates! Been in school, and now am currently looking for a new job, as my current workplace is closing in 9 days.

Will be hopefully tearing into the car soon.

Re: Questions about Partial Rebuild

OK, so I finally got some Loctite 515 via Amazon. It's a really small tube. Will it be enough for the whole tranny?

Re: Questions about Partial Rebuild

I have it in the cart on Amazon, but I wanted to see if I could find it locally.

I can't seem to get NAPA's website to work, so I'll either call or stop by there tomorrow. Thanks.

Re: Questions about Partial Rebuild

I can't seem to find this locally anywhere, despite having mulitple industrial complexes within 25 miles.

Has it been superseded by a newer P/N, because I can't even find it on Loctite's site.

Re: Questions about Partial Rebuild

Would I be able to use something other than a snap ring? I'm not sure I could easily acquire one that I need.

Are both bearings the same part number? I only have one of them.

Re: Questions about Partial Rebuild

Hmm. OK, how do I do that? As in, what is the process of finding the right thickness?

Re: Questions about Partial Rebuild

Re-shim? There were no shims in either of the transmissions I disassembled, nor, I believe, in the FSM.

Re: Questions about Partial Rebuild

Could someone tell me the P/N of the differential bearings? The bearings that support the differential assembly inside the case. I'm going to need those replaced.

Re: Questions about Partial Rebuild

We'll be starting in auto- and rallycross. The idea though is to move up to actual rallying. We're not doing it to win races though. We're doing it to enjoy it and improve our driving skills. Not to...

Re: Questions about Partial Rebuild

Eventually, this car will be a bona fide race car, one that has the engine pulled for various reasons throughout the year. Right now though, I just need it on the road, because my DD, Sally, is...

Re: Questions about Partial Rebuild

Don't get me wrong, I WILL be getting an upgraded clutch in the next couple months. But, it might just have to wait until the next paycheck.

I am really apprehensive, because I don't want the...

Re: Questions about Partial Rebuild

I'm on the fence about the clutch, mainly because of funding. I'll probably end up shelling out the bucks.

I've driven an SL2 with a 3rd-gen clutch, and hated the feel. Felt like the pedal...

Re: Questions about Partial Rebuild

Just a quick update:

I'm also replacing the intake and exhaust gaskets, because I'd rather do those out of the car rather than in.

Just ordered parts last night. Spark plug wires and trans...

Re: Questions about Partial Rebuild

I do really like the idea of the bypass filter. I was just wondering if I could run a line to the timing chain cover until the bypass could be done, but I'll just wait on both. I will be doing the...

Re: Questions about Partial Rebuild

@anmasher That bypass filter system isn't nearly as expensive as I thought it'd be. Would it be safe to run a single oil line from that galley plug to the timing chain cover until I can setup the...
