Re: Serious Bogging issues

No, it is unlikely that the trans temp sensor, or anything else related to the trans, is the problem here.

You need to do the two simple checks I mentioned above: Check sensors with live-data...

Re: Fan weirdness

Let's start with the easiest... has the ECT sensor been checked/replaced?

No, I don't think the fan should stay on after key-off. That sounds like either a bad fan relay or a wiring problem; try...

Re: Benefit to de-rusting hubs and rotors?

I would take off the thicker rust spots, but just a crude job with coarse sandpaper. You don't want the rust to cause "wobble" type run-out of either the rotor or wheel.

How much run-out? I'm...

Re: Oil Pressure Lamp Won't Turn On Even With Good Bulb

Let's not get the OP further confused.

That is a normally-closed (NC) switch, as described before by others. Oil pressure operates it to the open position.

Re: Serious Bogging issues

The two most likely problems are a burned valve causing loss of compression, or a catalytic converter being plugged or disintegrating and raising back-pressure in the exhaust. Easiest to check is...

Re: Oil Pressure Lamp Won't Turn On Even With Good Bulb

The MAP, TP, ECT, IAT, and EGR sensors are all powered from the 5V supply in the PCM. Still, since it is neither 5V or 12V (either is a candidate), then that end of the circuit needs to be checked;...

Re: Oil Pressure Lamp Won't Turn On Even With Good Bulb

Did you take some strands off the big wire you used, so that it could reach all the way in and touch the connector contact? And, it is going into the position for the TAN wire?

If the answer is...

Re: Oil Pressure Lamp Won't Turn On Even With Good Bulb

Do not cut the wire, slip a small wire (paper clip?) into the harness connector and touch that "probing" wire to ground. I have no schematic showing that circuit, so cannot confirm which wire to be...

Re: 2001 Saturn SC2 Hard Shifting

I had better bow-out (give up) here. The latest electrical schematic I have is for a '98, and the 4B WHT wire there is for the EVO solenoid (power steering); which would have no bearing on the shift...

Re: AC Leak at Hose to Condenser Fitting. How to fix?

You are wise not to tighten the screw more than appropriate for that size fastener. Take the fitting all the way loose and inspect the metal parts and replace the O-rings

Re: 2001 Saturn SC2 Hard Shifting

Remove the three trans fuses and take it for a drive.

There is no indication of a CKP sensor problem; why the continued discussion of, and fussing with, the "crankshaft (CKP) relearn"???

Re: 2001 Saturn SC2 Hard Shifting

I am confused, please clarify: Will it go over 35 mph or not? If limited to 35 mph, is that because of apparent lack of power, or because the engine gets to max allowable rpm at 35 mph?

Have you...

Re: 2001 Saturn SC2 Hard Shifting

What are the actual trouble-code numbers? A "crankshaft relearn" and a "valve body relearn" are two entirely different processes

Re: 2000 SW2 p0336; rough idle/wont rev/frontfire

for those curious...

It is a common problem with DIY aftermarket installs (like MegaSquirt) using VR sensors. The wave-form is not a sine, has one very fast edge that the PCM/ICM triggers on, and...

Re: Painting the Headliner?

I gotta remind folks of the advice in reply #4; keep it in mind. If the surface of the foam is not sound, glue won't work. Check that foam carefully.

Re: 00 SL1 Shaking while Still with smooth idle.

Bleeding the brake hydraulics has nothing to do with the vacuum in the brake booster. The booster could have a significant vacuum leak, yet the brakes still work fine; the engine would just idle...

Re: 2001 Saturn SC2 Hard Shifting

My experience (gen1) is that the trans relearn is pretty much done after just a few minutes/miles.

Re: New Timken wheel bearings/hubs have play?

Indeed, the nut bears on a washer that bears on the hub; but the hub is a giant "washer" that then bears on the outer inner-race. The inner end of the axle stub is the "bolt head" that bears on the...

Re: 00 SL1 Shaking while Still with smooth idle.

Since this is so greatly affected by pushing on the brake pedal, it is almost certainly caused by a vacuum leak in the brake booster. You might be able to verify that with vacuum or MAP readings.

Re: New Timken wheel bearings/hubs have play?

Whoa! The axle nut does control bearing tightness. Yes, it does hold the axle in the hub, but it also clamps the two bearing inner-races together to maintain the proper clearance in the bearing...

Re: New Timken wheel bearings/hubs have play?

How much play is there; how much does the perimeter of the tire move from full "in" to "out"?

Are you sure the movement was from only the bearing, none of the play was in the strut or lower...
