Re: I've tried everything but still Poor MPG, odd shifting + more

Some sort of vacuum leak for sure. Intermittent issues are often impossible to diagnose unless there's a specific pattern of actions to reproduce.

It's usually a bad idea to clean the IAC so I'd...

Re: Spark plug wire keepers

#4 on every '98-'04 Subaru I've owned has fallen off the coil. No other cylinder, just #4. New, old, good-used...every stupid one.

I never had that issue with the S-Series and they didn't add the...

Re: Saturn SL-1 clutch not *fully* dis-engaging

With hydraulic systems like brake lines and clutch lines, there's no real return path for the fluid to take (like a power steering or auto transmission hydraulic system). Unless you open the far end...

Re: Raybestos front brake hose Manufacturing defect

Any tools to bend them the required way? I'd say at least a 4" vice mounted to something and vice grips. Worth trying if RA won't refund the full item value.

Re: A question about trunk torque rods

They are adjustable. Pretty sure 3 spots. I believe the spoiler equipped models had higher factory tension than non-spoiler trunks but I never paid attention to any difference. The ones I remember...

Re: 1997 Saturn SW2 (HELP)

You'll need a dc capable volt meter at the very least, that specific of a device is rare but digital multimeters are super common and cheap (example...

Re: Advice! 1997 Saturn SW2

The automatic is very sensitive to voltage fluctuations, if the electrical is going crazy then the auto will too. Sounds like either the alternator failed or a battery cable came loose.

Re: General Information on Lowering Springs

Only H&R and Eibach made long-term production runs of their springs. Eibach's were made for people with broken backs that think polyurethane engine mounts are stupid, H&R Sports were made for fun...

Re: Vibration while in gear and stopped.

Nearly all, if not actually all, aftermarket engine mounts have more vibration at idle than OEM and if you're not paying over $100 for it...it's not OEM no matter what the name says.

After using...

Re: Top or bottom

Out the bottom is easier until the first time you get the subframe "nuts" rust seized to the bolts and then you'll never ever try going out the bottom again.

Re: What size are the bolts for the power steering lines on a s series?

The larger one is 18mm, the smaller one should be 16mm. I never tried getting at them from below, from above your only chance is a crow foot line wrench (example...

Re: headlight assembly swap

'96-'02 use the same space frame, everything bolts on in the same places with more/less bolts used.

Specifically for the headlights, '97-'02 they swap on the frame but for it to look correct the...

Re: Is new TES-668 ATF viable? Why Allison ATF at all?

I don't remember the actual numbers but proper Dex 3 has a higher viscosity then all the Dex replacements. The MDS for Dex 3 and TES-668/other-fluid must be somewhere and likely would include the...

Re: steering wheel/tyrod seems very shaky when traveling on gravel road

I dunno about Florida but Vermont finds it cheaper to not pave the roads at all. Dirt, gravel...it's all the same. You either learn how to drive or you get pulled out of the ditch.

Re: steering wheel/tyrod seems very shaky when traveling on gravel road

I'm not sure what you're asking. Going by what it looks like you're asking...I'd start with a drivers education course where they have to actually drive a car.

Re: 1995 SL1 exhaust fumes

The shop saying "it looks fine" implies they didn't do a smoke or pressure test on the exhaust.

There's nothing in the exhaust that's specific to Saturns that's common to leak.

Re: 99 Saturn SL2 SEC air SYS INC

"INC" means test incomplete.
You probably have not driven long enough since resetting the codes to get all the tests done. Usually need 5-10min of slower city speeds (40mph or under) and 50 miles...

Re: Yeah, but can it mow your lawn?

There's another guy (ThunderHead289 (https://www.youtube.com/c/ThunderHead289/videos)) that did a similar thing to a V8, think he said the MPG calculation came out over 40mpg.

Re: l100 swap into sl1

After you create the brand new mounting locations from scratch and meld the 2 wiring harness's together, it bolts right in no problem.

Re: 1994 air bag cover distortion interfering with horn

I'd just grab another air bag. Pretty sure it's a standard GM part rather than a unique Saturn part so check all the small 90's GM cars in the junkyard (Cavalier, Sunbird, Cutlass Calais/Ciera etc)....

Re: Lights Dim at High Revs

I'd say it's alternator related but due to a worn out serpentine belt slipping on it rather than an actual alternator issue. If it's a neoprene belt it'll look brand new by 80's/90's belt standards...

Re: O2 sensor for saturn Aura XR v6 3.6L engine

Bank numbering is based off which head has cylinder 1. Sensor numbering is based on how close to the head it is, 1 is nearest the exhaust ports while 4 is nearest the muffler.

In an S-Series...

Re: Lazy and Thrifty Headliner Options?

Rent a shop-vac (it's a brand name, not sure what the generic name is). Turn it on and vacuum up the mess as you tear the headliner down, then use it to pull/scrape the foam off the fiberboard. Then...
