Re: February 17th Preview? Lutz Tells Automotive News that Despite Good Cars, Saturn

Makes me wonder what will happen with the "reorganization"... will Saturn simply be folded into Chevrolet (or Buick-Pontiac-GMC)? Or will they take a billion or so of bailout money and pay off the...

Re: downpipe/flexpipe woes

I remember seeing a cheap '92 downpipe on eBay a while ago.

Other than that, you might have to find a U-Pull-It kinda place (rather than a pre-pulled JY) to find one...

Re: How can I force radiator fan to kick on?

I had a bad ground on my fan - it was a b*tch to diagnose.

I had no fan on with the ALDL jumpered on my '94.
I had power going through the relay (checked w/ my voltmeter).
I had 12-14V across...

Re: saturn drivers in New York state.

Not an Ion/Aura driver - just a stock-ish SC2.

I have another car that's for shows & stuff.

Re: pulled a P0420 today

FWIW - P0420's can happen with aftermarket "high-flow" cats, too... I tuned mine out on my other car by "deleting" the second pair of O2 signals.

And yay for my '94 SC2 - no rear O2's...

But I...

Re: Cooling Fan Question!

Just to add my $0.02 - I had the same issue...

And from another post, I figured out that if you have the 5-post relay, you connect posts #30 and #87. (I presume the 4-post relay is the same)

Which cradle is this? The whole rear?

Re: Wanted: pics of the '95/'96 coupe seat belts

Just the mounting - and ideally the bolts that hold them in place. Obviously, if you don't have them apart, then a general idea is ok.

Thanks

Wanted: pics of the '95/'96 coupe seat belts

Hey - anyone have pics of the '95/'96 coupes' seat belts? Or at least a diagram of how they sit in the car?

I hit a junkyard and got a set of manual belts from a '95 sedan, but it looks like...

Re: Okay so I want to remove my wing....

FWIW - the ^^ comment can work until the time you decide to swap/fill the holes. Just be sure if those holes lead into the trunk, you find a way to seal them too (I did some with clear silicone for...

Re: My cheap-charlie cat-back...

Eh - the iPikes are ok... don't give me the "stickiness" I'm used to - they're nothing like the Blizzaks I have on my Monaro (though then again, it's a much lighter car than the Monaro...).

Re: My cheap-charlie cat-back...

Yea, I know how those flex pipes go - it's just that I didn't have the time to custom order the over-the-axle pieces before the car had to be back on the road again, and this was the easiest way to...

Just curious - is the forum clock off?

It seems that the clock on the forum is about 4 hours behind.

That is all.

My cheap-charlie cat-back...

Had a weekend to kill and a giant hole rusted in my exhaust. Should have expected it to happen soon, given the condition of my muffler last fall:

Re: Spark Plugs

Thought about this - and unlike many cars, i'm at about 1qt per 4-5k miles, not too bad. And I have a 20-mile highway commute to work every day, not a "short-tripper", and I don't have a light foot,...

Re: Spark Plugs

This is interesting, as I've recently swapped out the plugs for Champions. Go figure, about 1k miles later, the car starts missing and bucking, with no power on the highway. Replaced the plug wires...

Re: What do you guys think of the new Astra?

We have several here (but only one five-speed, the rest are autos :( ).

I kinda like them - though the shape of the five-door is better to my eyes than the three-door.

And I'm sorta used to the...

HVAC bulbs - Neo-wedge LED replacement?

First off - yes, I've searched.

And what I'm trying to find is a white LED replacement for the HVAC Neo-wedge bulbs. The HVAC bulbs are crapping out on my '94, and as I've already replaced the...

Re: Driver side leak & sunroof leak-common?

I've noticed that I have leaks on both sides of my SC2 - such that in a heavy downpour, I'll have wet spots on both seats' outside bolsters. And I know it's the door seals not making full contact,...

Re: Lutz: Importing Astra Saved GM $ 900 Million - Could Turn Into "GM Charity Projec

Hmm... since the Astra was in essence a quick (~22-month) rebadge job, I'd say that the development costs were way cheap. It's the fact that no other Opels are sold here that makes the rebadge work...

Re: Exhaust repair

Mine were rusted & gone. So I cut them out, slipped a 2" ID piece over them, and clamped them down. I should have used a 2" to 1 7/8" ID to fit the stock tubing, but with me cranking down on the...

Re: why is it called 16 valves?

Just to add my $0.02 to the valve discussion:

Larger single valves tend to move more air than two smaller ones - depending on the configuration of the intake tract. Even with the same...

Re: Possible Solution

No, but all the remote starters should have a signal to disable them when the brake pedal is pressed - at least if it's set up correctly. It works that way in my SC2. (Viper and my Valet are both...

Re: Scoop: '08 Hybrid Vue Fuel Economy Numbers

The Civic hybrid isn't a belt-alternator system (read: mild Aura/Vue GL), but a flywheel-based "integrated motor assist". Neither the Civic hybrid (or the now extinct Insight, for that matter) nor...

Re: On GM and 'combinding brands'

Back in the 60's, Pontiac was well-known for being the performance division - the big-bore V8's were arguably more powerful than the more ubiquitous "small-block Chevy" (just look up "tri-power",...
