Re: Low Temperature still after thermostat and coolant temperature sensor

On the single cam cars excess heat use can pull a lot of heat off the engine temp. It's even mentioned in the owners manual, and suggests not using higher fan settings, as well as using recirculate...

Re: Low Temperature still after thermostat and coolant temperature sensor

I'd compare temp reading on gauge vs actual with a thermometer in the reservoir. If your gauge is just slightly off, but the operating temp is up in the normal range, then it's easy to just accept...

Re: Hey... My computer died.

Until you post a photo of the dozen or so Saturns you have, we're going to assume you are in imposter trying to enter the club. As such we will warn Charlie to not let you in without some evidence. ...

Re: so you don't like oil consumption?

They do like to start burning it at some point, but if people work at it they can keep consumption down. I had decent results with a piston soak after the consumption kicked in, and over the years...

Re: 2001 SC2 lilting while turning at 40ish and above

From the sounds of things, what couldn't be fully checked is really what needs to be checked.

I agree with Billr that the tilting is likely caused by stut, sway bar, or knuckle problems. Check...

Re: Persistent, Intermittent High Idle

Usually the problem with smaller stepper motors is the bushing, and mechanical resistance. Some are made with very low torque so they won't fight carbon deposits and such in an application like the...

Re: One time overheat?

Hopefully that is the cause. If it drips when cool, it's probably losing more coolant once it heats up, and dropping pressure as it does. At that point two things are going against you, the...

Re: One time overheat?

The boiling point is raised by the pressure within the system, and if everything is working correctly with water alone should be around 248 degrees F. In a proper working system the...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

You can't just pop in, not switch your profile, and confuse us like that!

When did you get the White Hot, and was it already built to the Deebs spec when you purchased it? Is it as clean as the...

Re: The MPG cost of running the AC

Not bad at all. I suspect the AC mileage hit varies with a lot of factors, but it's hard to complain when you're dealing with non highway miles and that kind of fuel return.

Re: Off Topic - Waiex 191

Cool project, glad to see it flying. And with your fuel figures, you should be near the Saturn in trip MPG, considering you can mostly straight line your route with the plane!

Re: One time overheat?

Oh so true. And the funny thing is, 99.9% of the choices will be fine, and the mix rates will just dictate cooling ability vs overheating ability.

Cue "Death Cool" stories of pending doom. :D

Re: need window wisdom - lubing a window

It's a bit messy on the glass at first, but I used a pump type of spray silicone used for diving gear. It keeps the rubber in good shape, seems slick enough, and lasted for a while in the rain down...

Second trying the EGR, they can be wacky on the way out.

Are there any certain variables that seem the same when you get the hiccup? Light loads, up to temp, cold, certain gear... anything?

Re: Is new TES-668 ATF viable? Why Allison ATF at all?

FWIW if you can get the TES 295 spec fluid the cheapest, it's more than adequate. From what I've seen the 668 spec is supposed to be more stable and have new and better friction modifiers, but...

Re: Can I swap a sl1 engine into a sl2 car?

Assuming the two cars overall are in comparable shape, I think the path of least resistance would be to swap the engine/trans/pcm/clutch stuff from the SOHC car into the DOHC chassis.

Re: Dorman shifter cable bushing

IIRC the Doorman part usually didn't last long for most, but most people didn't alter it with the JB Weld either. If you do have a failure in the future the bushing from Saturnbushingman on Ebay has...

Re: My 1992 SC turned 30 years old!

That is dedication to the brand and the car. I'm glad you made it to 30 years. It's probably easier when you own one of the best looking cars Saturn ever made, but that alone doesn't make it easy.

Re: 1995 SL-2 Dash pad

I thought there were only a couple, maybe 3 years that had the side "wings" on the dash pad. Rather than one piece, it's 3, with the small side pieces not attached to the middle.

Unless I...

Re: E-15... what's the plan?

I think you're grossly overthinking it myself. There have been a couple or more people here on Saturnfans that have run E85 in the cars without any real issues. IIRC one owner got a lean code and...

Re: Students: free OBDII app. today only free $10 Amazon Appstore Credit

See the below and proceed with caution. In the event you do need a new sensor, check direct with NTK and Denso online. I recently had to pick up a sensor for my daughters Mazda 3, and the best...

Re: Bonehead Saturn Craigslist find of the day

We know you are all over that.... you don't have to try to convince us you aren't interested so it doesn't big up higher. :D

Yeah.... I think that person is living in another reality.
