Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Today was new air filter day. The old one wasn't terrible. I don't drive through much dust, and I can go years without really needing one, but I found it on Wholesale Closeout on Rockauto, so why...

Re: I Might Need New Plugs...

Wow, I don't think my originals looked that bad when I changed them out... I assume they were originals, they had GM part numbers, and I don't think said AC on them. I think they were NGK with GM...

Re: Mixing orange and green antifreeze

Well, it's time to flush your system out now.

Mixing green and orange coolant is a bad idea. It's one of the things that is supposed to gum up the system. It would have been much better to be a...

Re: Engine Oil Filter - OEM - Walmart

Champion was purchased by 1st Brands, which had been Trico (wipers). Fram is also owned by 1st Brands.

What makes you think they're made by Fram?

Re: Auto slam in DRIVE and reverse

I passed on the car.... replacing the solenoid didn't look hard, but I don't want to replace things that I don't know are wrong, and I wasn't seeing a lot of definitive advice/diagnosis in my search.

Re: Is it possible to cut a sun roof?

Yup.... mine will open, but may not close. It's rusty and has leaked at some point.

Re: What is this and where do I get it?

I hate buying/opening up RTV, because I usually only need a little dab! Last time I used it was for the valve cover gasket over the spot where the timing cover meets the head. I found a tiny packet...

Re: air filter recommendations?

Lol, it's been decades since Meijer's has had the Thrifty Acres as part of their name.

I would not expect the Ultra-Power to be a Wix filter as many of the lower-tier brands use the same numbers...

Re: air filter recommendations?

That must be a year thing..... RA shows Gen3 SOHC and DOHC being the same. I can't image GM/Saturn using different filters/boxes for the two engines.

I'm just using a Champion Labs filter. When...

Auto slam in DRIVE and reverse

I've searched and am not sure I'm finding what I need. I looked at an 2002 SC2 today, that's in better shape then my SL2 in every way except the transmission. (even the sunroof and AC works!)

I...

Re: When low mileage means squat.

Those look like fun. Maybe I should keep an eye out for something like that. My family has property on a small lake, and something like that would be perfect. I also don't live too far away from a...

Re: 2001 SC1 frontal crash- can it be saved?

Do not drive a car without coolant at all, never mind "very far". I wouldn't do anything more than move it in the driveway.

Re: When low mileage means squat.

Seems like they'd post more than two pictures, but maybe since they're asking $1000 they just don't care.

The local auction house is always posting low miles for cars like it's a big positive,...

Re: P0706 Code

I've never had to wait two week on parts from Rockauto. You're right between several warehouses in South Bend, as I am here in MI. A lot of times my purchases come from Ohio or Chicago, in a few...

Re: S-Series Spot and Shot

I guess there is some, but I've got to blow up the picture to really see it..... way better than my rims. Maybe it's the lighting.

Re: S-Series Spot and Shot

Wow, that looks fantastic. Someone is definitely looking after that car closely.... no corrosion on the rims!

Re: 2001 SC1 frontal crash- can it be saved?

Use it as a parts car. It's not worth putting money into this one unless it's value to you is greater than the dollar value for some reason. These cars are very cheap now.

Thanks GM!!!

I finally figured out why I'm always locking the rear doors on my SL2 when I mean to unlock them. Up is unlock and down is lock, just like old fashioned manual doors with the lock rod sticking up...

Re: Death wobble at 40 mph and up

This doesn't sound like "Death Wobble" at all. Death Wobble is driven by the forward motion of the vehicle, it's not just a vibration that shows up at speed. It's also is typically found with solid...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

I've had two of them in my truck now, both made in Canada. Apparently, there hasn't been any reason/advantage to them moving that work to China.
