Re: Turbo kit

On a third gen engine like yours, you can expect to have broken ring lands within the first few weeks of boost.
Either build an engine with forged internals as mentioned by others, or find a...

Re: 2021 Extinct Car Show at Larz Anderson Auto Museum

Looking forwards to seeing some pictures of the show. Hopefully next year I can make it up there.

Re: Mp2 rebuild

That trans is unfortunately trashed with all of the shavings going through the trans while the diff pin was boring it's way through the case. You can also see the wear on the diff pin itself where...

Re: chime box

Unfortunately 2000-2002 do not have a chime module. Most of the functions are controlled by the BCM.
Not sure if that controls defrost or not. I would imagine so...

Re: Me and my saturns

Get a gasket, it will leak if you do not. On ebay you can get a top pan gasket and side cover gasket for around $25.

Re: Highmile 750k Maintenance

If it is still running and driving, I would be interested in buying it when it is time. A car like that deserves to be preserved.

Re: New member with 1992 barn find.

Very nice find. Glad you intend on keeping it stored indoors and off of daily duty.

Re: MP7 Transmission Lost All Gears

I manual swapped my 95 Sl2 and it was a great decision instead of troubleshooting the auto trans. Already thinking about doing it to my 1995 SW2 as well, just miss driving stick. Good luck and happy...

Re: No power to wheels

I would be curious to see if the axle is broken under the dampener. It looks a little suspicious in the picture you have posted (passenger side axle). If not, check to see if the clutch is covered in...

Re: valve cover torque specs.

You should be fine if you follow the sequences listed in the link above. I have not had a narrow head engine (1999-2002) for a while, but if I recall correctly there is about the same number of...

Re: Saturn s series Plug-in Jensen USB Bluetooth any good

$139 is expensive, I normally spend $60-$80 on pioneer head units and they sound great.

Re: So uhhh... there's a hole in my transmission

That looks line an intentional hole, the only reason why I could see somebody doing that is dropping the slave cylinder's actuator rod down in there while installing it. Then instead of removing the...

Re: Torque Strut Prothane Bushings - Anyone?

The poly inserts are nice, I have them on my manual 95 sedan. Stiffens up the ride as far as getting on and off the gas. I have a westar TAM and trans mount, vibrations are present at idle though.

Re: Manual transmission compatibility

I fixed it with stock twin intake cams, megasquirt, and 10psi. It has no problems on hills anymore!

I used to have stage 1 twin intake regrinds, geo storm TB, true CAI, 4-2-1 header, and a thermal...

Re: Manual transmission compatibility

I went from a DOHC trans to a SOHC trans on my 95 Sl2. Sometimes I wish I could go back and forth between the two, as highway is better with the SOHC trans but it is a dog going up any hills...

Re: White Smog Can't Catch a break

If the car passes the regular smog and emissions checks, I would just ignore it. I cannot believe somebody reported your car for smoking, it is as if they have nothing better to do.

Re: Manual transmission compatibility

98-02 MP2 is a direct fit for you.
If you swap in anything with different ratios you will lose cruise control, that is about it.

Re: I did a thing.........turbo

Stock fuel pump with larger injectors are thought to be alright for under 300whp. Piggybacks will lead to a dead engine, best bet is megasquirt or electromotive. Your comments on the differences...

Re: I did a thing.........turbo

Factory FPR handles it just fine. Piggybacks lead to failure as the Apexi and others cannot compensate for partial throttle boost. Stock ignition timing for gen 1's is assumed to be safe around...

Re: I did a thing.........turbo

You will need a megasquirt, unless you want to blow your engine.
I installed one in my 1995 Sl2, and have been running 10psi for a while now on a stock rotating assembly with about 195k miles on...
