Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Timing Belt Kit + Camshaft + Crankshaft Seals

Achievement Unlocked.

I hope that the fix for clearing the service wrench isn't too awful.

Since we are among friends here I have to admit that after every major automotive project (and after...

Re: Instrument Cluster Having Heat Issues

Just wanted to post an update.

Cooler weather and cleaned battery connections seem to have made the dash happy.

My guess is that the cooler weather had a bigger impact than the battery...

Re: 2000 LS2 Timing Belt Replacement

Hello.

Click on my user name and search for threads that I've started. The only thing I would change to that post is that I started using carriage bolts and rubber washers to hold the cam shafts...

Re: 2000 L Series V6

One area that the V6 is known to leak coolant from is a cover over the oil cooler that rests in the valley between the two heads. It takes a bit to get to the cover. If you feel like this might be...

Instrument Cluster Having Heat Issues

Re: 2 tires or Replace all four

I think the reasoning behind putting the new tires in the rear comes from the idea that average driver is better at dealing with the front end of the car loosing traction than the rear.

Your...

Re: who has the highest mileage on your VUE?

Just had to chime in.

222,228 miles. Owned since new and purchased from Saturn of Honolulu.

The biggest issue I've had to deal with was a throttle position sensor issue. Did the repair per the...

Re: 3.0 Spark Plugs

I'm a no on that.

My theory was that if the OEM plugs worked just fine for 100k why change. Getting to the plugs was enough of a pain to risk having to do the job early.

OEM worked fine for me.

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Water Pump Pulley (Locking-How?)

Hello,

Your call on the spark plug removal but I'm sure you are aware of the weather moving in this weekend and if you are doing this outside less work might be better.

Mr. fdyers' advice on...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Crankshaft Balancer (Remove-How?)

Hello,

I'm pretty sure this is what they mean when they say key:

59962

The lower one is for timing, the one at the 9 O'clock and 4 O'clock might be for the pry bar action.

That being...

Re: 2003 L200 Engine Oil Change

Deleted post.

Decided that tips that work with the 3.0L didn't apply to the 2.2L.

Hey Brandon,

Just curious if you were going to replace the timing belt at the same time you are replacing the water pump.

I think the only reason to pull them is if you have a passenger in the back and they discover your secret with their toes :)

They look real close to the mats in our 2003 VUE. Even the same color.

Re: GM L81 3.0L V6 Engine - Head Gasket Replacement (Questions for DIY)

Re: timing belt replace

You probably have your answers by now but here goes.

The front engine mount does need to be removed to replace the timing belt.

The front and rear bank ignition modules do not interchange.

Re: GM L81 3.0L V6 Engine - Head Gasket Replacement (Questions for DIY)

I've always wondered why my exhaust had water vapor even during warmer days.

Drain hole in the muffler plugged. Who knew?

I'm doing an oil change this Friday and will make a note to check this...

Another quick and simple thing to look for is corrosion on both battery cables. My 2000 LS2 had a habit of stalling out back in 2003 when idling or at low speed. (Yes, I've had this car for a very...
