Re: 4-Pin Relay Orientation?
What year is your car? There was a similar question in another thread just recently that I posted to, but I can't find that thread. Point is, on my gen1s, #30 socket is not connected to the...

Re: Persistent, Intermittent High Idle
Nope, that is not how a stepper works. Both coils have to be energized to drive in either direction, and with specific polarity pattern.
There is no simple way to drive them; and limited way to...

Re: 1997 SC1 original pcm search
Do the PCMs all have the original labels on them? Do the P/Ns and description on the PCMs correspond to the vehicle engine and trans type? That much is easy to check from the VIN.
A vendor...

Re: Your favorite tires?
Wow, when this thread started I was afraid to say I go for the cheapest 195; I figured I would get blasted!
Although the cheapest at my local America's Tire is H ($60), I don't insist on H. My...

Re: Troubleshooting TAAT Hard Shift
The LP solenoid is on the VB, and is identical to the other four solenoids there. You can check resistance of all those solenoids from outside the trans, at the 10-pin connector on top of the VB...

Re: Troubleshooting TAAT Hard Shift
Yeah, my mistake on the P/N vs D, sorry. I'm old and it was late at night, that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!
That top "test" terminal is separate from the range function, and has a quite...

Re: Troubleshooting TAAT Hard Shift
I'm not sure which switch terminals you are using for the adjustment, but if you use the correct ones there will be continuity (tone) in only P and N; can't use any forward gear or R.

Re: need window wisdom - lubing a window
I would try cleaning with alcohol, either ethanol or isopropyl. Squirt/pour some into the track just above the window edge and then run the window up/down to wipe it a round. Keep putting in...

Re: 1999 SC2 lazy cranking
Don't they all (with original pistons) burn that much oil? My '94/95 SL2s burn that much, or more. The plugs keep clean on both and they both routinely pass Calif. emissions testing. I just add...

Re: 1999 SC2 lazy cranking
Does it start and run OK now? If so, take compression readings and if they are OK, ignore the original cranking problem. There are any number of possible causes for that poor cranking and you may...

Check to be sure there is continuous flow of coolant through the "air bleed" line; the small hose (about 5/8" OD) that connect to the coolant reservoir at the back of the fill neck, just under the...

What was the reason for changing the balancer? Are the lips on the leaking seals now visibly worn or damaged? Post pictures if in doubt.

Re: A/C Relay
I think that relay is probably an acceptable style, but should pull out of its socket without needing tools. There is a similar relay to the left, does it pull out with reasonable effort?

Re: Persistent, Intermittent High Idle
Yes, disconnect the hoses at the manifold and plug/cap the manifold ports on the manifold. If those ports are nipples, often the easiest way to cap them is to use a very short piece of hose with a...
