Re: Radar Detectors

My point is that the cop will see you reach up to remove something. Cops have enough stress in their lives already, and will not appreciate you putting even more in. S/he has no idea what you moved....

Re: Radar Detectors

I wouldn't recommend that tactic. I am good friends with a few officers, and they tell me if they see a detector, they will write every ticket they can. And trust me, if they can write you one...

High - new pads + rotors up front
new right rear wheel bearing, since left was just replaced

Med - 2 tires, rears are getting a bit low

Re: 3rd muffler strap

Maybe that's why I would make a horrible businessman... To me, it sounds better to build a car that doesn't break in the first place. Of course some things like engine mounts, suspension, ect. will...

Re: 3rd muffler strap

Isn't the strap stainless?

I just replaced mine not too long ago, and it wasn't rusted at all. The break looked like metal fatigue more than anything else.

Re: huge tranny issue

It sounds like your clutch might not be going all the way in.

If you aren't, push it all the way to the floor.

Otherwise, how many miles are on the clutch?

Re: Sad day for my Saturn

Nope, back on the road as of this morning. :D

Wasn't actually all that scary. I realized what happened as soon as I hit the snow, and steered into the skid. I had it back under control and stopped...

Re: Rear wheel bearing replacement

99, so no such luck on the disks :(

With the car being 10 years old and AFAIK, spending all of that time in NJ/PA, I'm probably looking at everything being rust-welded to everything else. :(

Re: Rear wheel bearing replacement

Ok, I saw some videos on youtube about having to chisel/grind the bearing race off, and they didn't mention if it was a drive wheel or not. Also saw some where you needed special tools to get the...

Rear wheel bearing replacement

I need to replace one, probably best to do both rear wheel bearings on my 99 SC2.

Seeing as how the mechanic quoted me $250 + tax for one, and I can get 2 hub/bearing assemblies for about $200 +...

Re: Sad day for my Saturn

The shop finally got back to me. Turns out the damage is minor, if you can even call it damage.

Both driver side tires are still usable, just got knocked off the beads.

Both driver side rims...

Re: Sliding odd in the snow while braking

Snow/ice is one of those times when engine braking is "safer" than using your brakes.

For a number of reasons, it is safer to downshift than to use your brakes in snow/ice because you are much...

Re: Saturn oil leak

I know my SC2 burns a bit of oil, though there isn't any smoke. I usually use about 1/4 of a quart during a 280 mile highway trip, usually running at about 3200 rpm the whole time. I forget how it...

Sad day for my Saturn

Well, I may have managed to do enough damage to make my 99 SC2 a total loss today. :(

Hit a small pile of snow when changing lanes today at about 45-50 mph on the highway. Front end got pulled...

Re: How High Do You Rev up Your Engine?

2500-3000 usually for me. Highway driving sees 32-3300 (stupid DOHC 5th gear...)

Right now they have stop signs on the interstate onramps by my house, so if im merging, she'll see 5500-6000...

Re: Affixing license plate to front of '97 SC2

Since when?

If so, it's not enforced, since I'm sitting in my dorm in Wilkes-Barre and haven't seen a single PA car with 2 tags for the past 1 1/2 years.

Re: A VERY sad day for my Saturn...

If the water was only to the bottom of the door the only way I can see water getting into the intake is from splash. However, even then there's a lot of stuff in the way to block that.

Since...

What?

I seriously have no idea what you're saying. Some punctuation, capitalization, spelling, and paragraphs would certainly help.

Re: Seafoamed my SL2

If and only if the IAT has been relocated so it detects the correct intake air temperature, then the PCM will still give it the correct amount of gas.

A CAI taking air in at 65F with the IAT...

Re: DOHC TO SOHC Swap!! Not something you see every day!

So long as it's a manual and you use a PCM programmed for a manual SOHC, it will work. If it's an auto, you will need a Sx1 transmission as no PCM will be able to control a Sx1 engine and Sx2...

There is also a second fuse box behind the front passenger's kick plate, that one has a bunch of relays in it and some...

Re: catalytic converter do I need one can I remove it

If you have emissions and/or safety inspections, you will need it. Not having a cat will make it fail emissions. Many places having an SES light is an automatic fail on inspections also.

Not...

Re: Yellow DRLs

If people are flashing their lights at you like your highs are on, please check your headlight aiming.

The only reason they are doing that is that you're blinding them.
