I have but don't recall but I don't recall replacing the o-ring and you should be able to get them from the local shop or if you replace the heater core I think they have replacement o-rings for them...

AFAIK 14.4 is when the Alt is running your battery seems on the low side. How old is the battery? And has it been drained and if so how many times. Disconnected +/- should be at 12V rated lower means...
