Re: Airbags 1996 Saturn SL4

The only reason the airbags won't go off in the S-Series is either the impact wasn't hard enough or they're faulty. There's no modern way to disable them.

Re: Saturn SC2 1996 Intermittent starter problems

If you can find it in stock, Home Depot has a Husky 270pc tool set for $100. 2 styles, 1 sorta requires the Husky "Connect" box...

Re: Driver wiper arm

It's longer and angled differently. Even if you get the angle better for the driver side you'll have to try various sizes of blades to get a pair that doesn't interfere, and it'll "home" to an odd...

Re: 01 sc2 wiper arm replacement help

Some people won't accept used parts (or can't afford the shipping cost internationally) but contacting sellers on eBay that show the entire car about a part you want is a great way to get stuff....

Re: Saturn SC2 1996 Intermittent starter problems

Should be 1 solid 6awg cable from the battery to the starter, then a fuseable link from the starter to the alternator.

If the problem seems to be at the starter end, you might be able to get away...

Re: Thinking about fog lamps

Keep in mind the factory fog lights use 880 bulbs...which are about as amazing as the 1156's used for the factory reverse lights. It's better than no fog lights at all, but if you have to buy them...

Re: Need Help: Flange for Motor Mounts on Head

The motor mount on that side bolts to the timing cover, not the head. Not much fun to replace but more fun than replacing the head. I'm not sure if it's machined or cast aluminum (cast is harder to...

Re: specifics on compression testing, P0301

The OBD-II emissions 'ready monitors' require a completed drive cycle , which itself requires something the OP is unable to do (DC explained (http://obdii.com/drivecycle.html)). Until a drive cycle...

Re: 2nd gen e brake bracket

RA is staffed by morons who blame the customer for their failings.
"Oh, I'm sorry sir it looks like you ordered the wrong part"
"What? How could I order the wrong part? You only list ONE PART for...

Re: Maxi Fuses…

People buy those? What a waste of money, though it is hard to argue with $0.90 for one.

Almost every parts car I had I stripped it for the fuse's along with other easy to reuse/repurpose parts...

Re: Service Wrench and SES Light Behavior after Manual PCM Swap

The Service light with the Wrench icon is only for non-emission issue's, 99% of the time it's for a bulb in the gauge cluster.

Re: Moog Strut Problem

The front spring perch has to turn on a bearing so the wheel can turn and change the car's direction. You may not have had enough leverage with just your hands to spin a brand new setup but you could...

Verify the cig lighter works with they key 'off' first, I don't recall it working but I'm not sure I ever tested it either. I'm not sure I'd trust the stock wiring to do this, but at the same time...

Re: Moog Strut Problem

Either I'm misunderstanding something, or you put far too much effort into simply spinning the strut mount around. The fronts spin on a bearing between the car body and the upper spring perch.

Re: What Is This?

Due to the shape and name I'd guess it's related to the Saturn 1 rocket (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturn_I).

Re: P0131 code with hesitation when accelerating and poor gas mileage

Both the ECTS and thermostat have higher than average failure rates in the S-Series.

The factory ECTS is made of a resin that cracks when exposed to the chemicals in coolant over 4-5 years, this...

Re: Valve cover

The aluminum cover bolt part number is GM 21000823. Takes 11 bolts so of course they only come in packs of 10. This eBay listing (https://www.ebay.com/itm/313388997776) is 1 of 2 I could find and at...

'Rainman Ray' replace's a '01 SC1 Fuel pump

Knucklehead calls it a SL1 but it's clearly a SC1. Kinda nice seeing a fuel pump job from a "professional" viewpoint rather than our normal DIY methods.

Wrench light codes can only be read by a Tech II level tool, likely requires the Saturn specific add-on card as well.

In no particular order: Seatbelt, ABS (if equipped), Upshift (if manual...

Re: 1998 SL with A/C blower motor

Assuming nothing else breaks, swapping the blower motor is pretty quick and easy. Only hard part is fitting yourself into the passenger footwell.
