Years ago I had similar noise on my 2004, 2.2, 5 speed. I had to replace the sway bar links in the front end. In fact, there was a recall on them.

You might need to change the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECTS).

Check out Richpin's Video in the sticky Post in the how to library he shows how you can remove the dash in 5 minutes. The bulb you need is $5. A mechanic will want $150 labor to do it.

You need a new CPS. Check in how to library for instructions on how to replace. Also check electrical connections on battery and ground connection
to rule those out as cause of the no start.
