The ABS fail condition places the car in the "Strategy 1" category. With the LS's...

Re: Possible ABS problem
Sounds like you have a stuck solenoid valve in the modulator block. This can happen if someone bleeds the brakes incorrectly at some point in the car's life.
The ABS realises this a few seconds...

Re: 6 random questions. 2001 Saturn L100?
Good luck finding a decent manifold! It took me six months and $250 just to get the part here in Canada. :|
In better news the manifold swap itself was quite straightforward.

Re: What the heck is this part?
Also as you install the hose, try and have it squished a little bit, as that removes as much of the air as possible and creates suction drawing up water when you get it on.
Doing that I've never...

Re: Expensive thermostat replacement!
To be fair, the 1984 Yugo 45 was a better car than the L Series, at least by volume of units sold and average cost of repair. :D
I think you've hit upon the real problem though which isn't really...

Re: Is This Where I Do It?
The directions I followed told me to aerate the fluid with an egg whisk before taking it near the engine. I think that step often gets missed and people pout it straight in neat - that could well...

Re: Is This Where I Do It?
I had Ford Sierra (Pinto 1.6 engine) that always ran on when you stopped it: coke deposits were hot-spotting and raising compression enough that it would diesel under its own power without the spark...

Re: Dual Exhaust cutouts in bumper
Hmmm. Well certain Vectra diesels had the exhaust on the other side, so I'd reckon it could be that: a uni-purpose rear bumper built for an engine that never made it to this side of the pond.

Re: Dual Exhaust cutouts in bumper
I think it's probably because the V6 was a parts bin special with all sorts of parts from GMs European and North American line up randomly thrown together. They probably just had a design for a...

Re: LW200 Build Thread {Frostman}
And that break is exactly why you should never put a variable load like a power steering pump on the timing chain.
It wasn't your fault mate, bad design from day 1.

Re: LW200 Build Thread {Frostman}
Woah you still drove the car with it sounding like that!? :xeye:
Sadly I think you're probably correct and have become the latest victim of excellent design choices by GM. Sorry dude!

Re: 2001 L300 Powersteering Issue
Only the return hose can be screwed to the reservoir with a jubilee clamp. The others are bolt on high-pressure type fittings.
The high pressure hose is the one that whines and removing these...

Re: 2001 L300 questions
Well, I think you'd have to chop the input pipe then either weld on a flange or weld directly to the middle pipe.
The shipping alone on that thing is going to be exorbitant though, eh?

Re: 2001 L300 Powersteering Issue
If you still have the original hoses on the pump that's pretty much normal. GM released a 'tuned' hose which is longer with an intermediate orifice to correct that issue, but of course it's $100+ and...

Re: 2001 L300 questions
There's no difference in the back-boxes (muffler) except some L300's had dual exhaust tips. Same diameter piping and flow-rate.
