Re: Looking at L200 - what should I look for?
The manual had a serious issue with the clutch slave cylinder.
In the S series, hydraulic clutch components were external and easily replaced. In the L with typical dumb German engineering, the...

Re: Wanting opinions about Saturn L series cars
Avoid 2000 L at all costs.
I had a 2000 LS which had so many design errors that I traded it at 18 months/21000 miles.
Unbelievable trash engineering but got many compliments on appearance.

Re: Replaced the Cabin Air Filter
German engineering.
I still remember the clutch slave cylinder on the L series. Internal and expensive to fix.
Contrast the Astra CAF with my 08 Corolla.
Open glove box door.

Re: Astra crushed.. Had a really bad day today..
Contact your state DMV to be sure they review the police report and permanently revoke the driver's license of the other party.
Next seizure he might plow into a bunch of kids crossing to school....

Re: BW: Why Saturn Fell to Earth
I trusted Saturn after 4 S cars and bought a new 2000 LS.
Well styled but riddled with uncorrectible design errors.
Took GM 3 model years to get the glitches out of the L series. By that time,...

Re: BW: Why Saturn Fell to Earth
Saturn used to be "a different kind of car from a different kind of company".
I remember my first encounter. A polymer car, easy to maintain, and economical. Styling took a second to engineering...

Re: L series a good upgrade?
After 5 SL's, I bought a new 2000 L series. The worst car I ever owned, riddled with uncorrectable design errors.
Wound up in a Corolla after dumping the LS at 20K miles and a glove compartment...

Re: Taillight scratches
Plast-X helped me a lot with headlight scratches and hazing.
If scratches are light, it can help on most any car.

Re: How should i feel?
Good work.
Most misunderstandings can be resolved by effective communication.
You went above and beyond. That's the original Saturn way.

Re: Astra negativity
As an 00 LS survivor who went from Saturns to Corollas, I do feel strong distrust of German engineering.
too many German vehicles are mechanical monstrosities that are difficult and expensive to...

Re: Future of the Astra?
As a 2000 LS survivor who was turned from 5 Saturns to 2 Corollas by the garbage German engineering, I can only hope the Astra's better in reliability than most German imports.
The L series had a...

Hopefully, you will get the extended warranty since GM has a very dismal record with new technology such as CVT transmissions, etc.
The Prius doesn't deliver anywhere near claimed...

Re: Dead battery '06 Ion
Once a sealed battery gets deep cycled, it's toast. I had that on a Delco Freedom once where the door was left ajar on the dealer's lot.
Battery lasted a year.
Of course, there could be an...

Re: Need Your Thoughts On a Paint Repair
A good shop can properly match the paint.
My 99 SL got zapped with 1,200 miles. The door was toast.
Foster's in Raleigh, NC did such a great job you couldn't tell and it aged perfectly over the...

Re: Moving On
Neat Miata. Good luck with it.
After 5 Saturns, a 2000 LS made me a Corolla owner. Happy with our two Corollas after 4 years.
What brought me to Saturn was polymer, so I guess I'll not return.
