Re: 2021 Extinct Car Show at Larz Anderson Auto Museum

Count me in. Just finished the TAAT transmission and aluminum radiator swap this past weekend. Cutting it close. Test drive yesterday, all seems ok.

Re: How did you get involved with Saturn

My Merkur Scorpio was bleeding me to death with repairs and waiting for parts from Germany from my local Ford dealer. The Ford dealer treated me with disinterest, at best. Even to order parts. Nice...

Re: Engine tick while warming up

Maybe a slight drop in oil consumption. But that engine had over 270k when I replace it with a yard engine. And consumed a quart every 500-600 miles before it lost compression in one cylinder. ...

Re: BAT - where will this end up $$ ?

The usual last minute bidding brought the selling price to $6000.

Re: BAT - where will this end up $$ ?

Up to $ 4400.00 with about 20 minutes left to go. With 18k on the odo, it should have a lot life left in it. So far, not a bad price, what other used car can you buy with 18k for that price?

Re: Engine tick while warming up

Oil does not cure mechanical ills. However it can help somewhat. Sounds like it may be a lifter. Without hearing it run, before any tearing it apart, this is what I would do. Try Castrol...

Re: Death wobble at 40 mph and up

A tire with a broken internal belt is no joke. As is a "death wobble." If "everything" else checks out ok, have a tire dealer dismount the tires, and check them internally for a broken belt. ...

Re: When to replace trailing arms

They wick down as they go through the bushing. At least mine did in the salty northeast. I replaced one, then six months later, the other broke. So I would say to do both if in question.

Re: Is she on here?

Cool story. I don't do facebook either. And I just switched to Hagerty this past weekend, since it is not my daily anymore.

Re: Reconditioning exhaust manifold

Cityhawk, I have an extra exhaust manifold off my 94 SL2. If you are interested. I replaced mine with a 91-92 factory tube style header that I had Nitro-Plated. What size studs (pitch/length) are...

Re: Free Saturn Transmission

Hi Roger, PM me. I have a 94 SL2 with 275k on the orig. auto transmission. Would love to have it as a '"spare" for now. I do not think there are any differences between the 1993 and 1994 SL2...

"What do you guys think as far as reliability for a car this old with 154K on it. I'm really looking for a car that is tow-able first, then has all the power options I want in my old age. Power...

Re: Window Vent Shades - Weathertech

Be careful rolling up the windows. I have the manual crank windows. After installing the Weathertech many years ago, I broke the regulator rolling the window up. The front ones went in the...

Re: Don't you hate aluminum wheels?

Steel for general use and much better in winter with salt and road sand and its sandblasting. I will admit that I have one set of each now.

Re: Extinct Car Day at Larz Anderson Museum 2019

Thank you all for showing and making it a memorable day! The weather was great, the cars were great, and the people were even greater. I would have never imagined way back when that nine cars would...

Re: Stainless Steel muffler, or maybe not....

Most likely a 409 sst. So technically it is a sst. Magnetic. 409 is a ferritic sst with approx. 10.7 to 11.5 % chrome. An austenitic 304 sst exhaust like the Thermal has approx. 17.5 to 19.5...

Re: New SC2 Saturn

I bet the underside looks just a clean. And the front sub frame must look like it just left the factory. I looked up your average of 12.5 inches of rain per year. I should have taken a vacation...
