Re: Converting my ion 3 into redline with donor car

Wow, this looks like a cool project! I'm sure the exhaust will line up somehow, sometimes you just have to drop everything in and see how it looks.

Since your 2 cars are the same platform it...

Re: When low mileage means squat.

Ya it kills me how many people had no idea that these cars had to be religiously rust proofed from new if you live in the snow belt. They just thought 'plastic car, they'll never rust'

Re: I have returned with new ride

No option B yet, but the car has a Magnaflow cat back and a 3 inch intake from ZZP. Does option B help with cooling, or is it more for increasing coolant capacity and make bleeding easier?

Re: Have you ever wondered what the cause of a locked up starter is?

My SL2 sits for 6 months of the year and is always a bear to start the first time. This year I managed to burn out my starter in the process, after taking about 5 minutes to get going.

In my...

Re: I have returned with new ride

Very nice!

I have an 06 Ion Redline, thinking of doing the same mods as you, ie, 3.0 pulley, bigger injectors and a tune.

Did you notice your mpg's go down a lot after modding? I hear that...

Re: I need, not want, a RHD USPS wagon but can't find one.

The drivetrain really doesn't matter to most people who buy the SWP's since they will probably just lower the car 3-4 inches and put fancy wheels on them for that JDM look. :D

Re: Death wobble at 40 mph and up

It really sounds like you have a warped rotor there. They can make the car shake like crazy under hard braking esp when they heat up. I'd replace the front rotors, they are inexpensive.

Re: I need, not want, a RHD USPS wagon but can't find one.

Are you a member of the Saturn S-series Facebook group? I see some RHD wagons popping up there at least a couple times a year.....

Re: Is my Saturn done?

It would not hurt to pull off the hood, fenders and wheels and have a close look. Anything can be fixed to an extent, if you have the resources.

Re: Heads Up on CatCon pricing, industry-wide

My OEM cat is on it's last legs, it's been welded to the pipes since the flanges were falling apart from rust.

A month ago I scored a new Magnaflow catcon off FB market place for $60. I bet the...

Re: "new" 96 SL1

I notice that some rust has started in the dog leg portion of the rocker panels under the rear doors. Do yourself a favor: pop those plastic covers off and fill that area with some rust proofing...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Ya I debated doing it myself, but was not up to lying in my driveway in January when the average temp is 0 degrees. This job just could not wait until the warmer weather came while I had visions of...

Re: new exhaust

Are you running a resonator? I'm running a straight pipe to a baffled sport muffler and it's a bit raspy, esp when I'm 'on it'.

Re: 1995 Saturn SC2 - No Oil Left in Car, It's on the Driveway

Sounds like your mechanic was having a bad day, time to find a new mechanic.

There are some parts that are getting a bit harder to find, but it's no big deal yet, Rockauto has nearly everything...

Re: Is it worth it?

That rust actually does not look too bad, about the same as mine and it's still structurally sound. Of course the only way to know is to poke around the rear trailing arm area with a screw driver,...

Re: cutting a hockey puck

My pinch weld jack points are flattened from being raised 100's of times, so I just use those then slip the jack stand under the sub frame.

Re: Strut Tower Brace

I had a strut tower brace on my S series, it got in the way of me constantly having to add oil (the bar partly blocked the oil fill cap) so I removed it. It's somewhere outside behind my garage if...

Re: Need a Front subframe

They rot because they are made of mild pressed steel and were not made to last more than 10 years in the salt belt.

The rust decay is mainly caused by salt water that is used on winter roads...

Re: Siphon gas problems

Man from my experience that is too much oil! 1 tablespoon is more than enough. I added 2-3 tablespoons last time and the damn thing smoked for nearly 15 mins after cold start. :dizzy:
