2003 Ion unstable RPMs

My son's manual trans Ion seems to drop RPMs after he revs it up. After he revs it up in neutral, the RPMs dip to below 500 and then rebound. Is that MAF? Or dirty air intake?
Anybody had something...

Re: reliability question

I have 2003 model, and the only issue I've had was the starter switch. My power steering is slowly going, but works in cooler temps. No other issues whatsoever.

Re: 2004 Saturn Ion 2

Can you re-state your story in better English? I have no idea what is it that has happened to the clutch pedal. What popped?
Sorry.

Re: Ion 2- new clutch install. Clutch line

Probably need to look at junkyards, but I really doubt they are not available any more. If you find one, tell us where.

Re: New member, new to me car

LOL. I suggest get some shims to align the doors. The new doors will never align like the factory ones, so just get a handful of them . You should be able to get them in any auto parts store or on...

Re: Strange starter problem 2005 Ion 2

My son's Ion can stand for a month and the battery does not drain. The battery is weak or connections are dirty.

Re: 2003 sedan manual AC compressor replacement

Everything went well. I replaced evaporator and compressor in about 2 hours. Relatively easy repair. If you do it, make sure you take out alternator. It makes removal of the compressor much easier.

Re: 2004 Saturn Ion 2 advice?

Never had this problem (My Ion is 03 with 356,000 on it). I would say replace thermostat first. Also, try revving the engine while idling at a stand still. If the temp is dropping, it's the water...

2003 Ion sedan - wobbly manual shifter repair

Does anyone recall if there were any posts how to fix (make better?) a sloppy manual shifter? It is NOT bushings, but rather the shifter tower where that big ball rests. I don't want to replace the...

2003 sedan manual AC compressor replacement

Hi All.
I decided to replace my son's AC compressor, because the old one is leaking (NOT black death - if refilled it runs fine). So I decided NOT to replace the receiver/dryer as this is an extra...

Re: Clutch replacement

Good luck. I had clutch replaced by a Benchmark shop and they charged me $1,200, which is $300 less then their normal rate. They said they had to lift the entire engine to get to it. I knew all that...

Leak between manifold and front pipe.

Recently, I replaced the cat with the front pipe. Everything went OK, but now I have a serious leak between the manifold flange and the front pipe. It's probably due to warping of the flange, because...

Re: 03 Ion 2 manual - shifter freeplay and hard shift

I also noticed that if I shift 3rd-2nd, it's easier to shift into 1st. But you are right, the problem is likely related to free play. What's JY=junk yard?
Thanks!
