Re: LUK Clutch Master Cylinder now different product?

The one I got from Rock Auto about a year ago that went into my rebuild squeaks, same kind of squeak too. Have not made it a priority to look at it, but if it's not the pivot, it's where the rod goes...

Re: Making a new bushing on transmission side of linkage.

If you have pictures of that 12mm socket and fuel hose substitution I'm sure we'd all like to see them. I just haven't gotten to the point where I needed to be that creative yet.

While you were...

Re: Making a new bushing on transmission side of linkage.

We are looking at the end of the shift linkage that goes to the shift tower on top of the transmission. On the end of that loop is the hole for a rubber bushing, and inside that bushing is a...

Re: 1999 SW2 front control arms

Moog/TWR for the control arms, hopefully the quality is still holding up. The bushings in the control arms come with the control arms and not the sway bar. While you are at it, this is a good time to...

Re: I have a coolant boiling issue

Yep, the coolant caps leak. Also, if you've been adding water, but no coolant, your coolant concentration is now low, and this reduces the boiling point, and that may be part of the problem. Having a...

Re: RIP Oldnuc

I had a feeling something like this was going on. Rest in peace, dear sir. OldNuc helped me with my first engine rebuild back in 2011. I learned so much and he had an encyclopedia like knowledge of...

Re: '98 DOHC Head Gasket Replacment

The shim does work, I used copper spray gasket on one side. I have 2K miles on my rebuild and it's going good. It's not a lot of miles, but it runs like a champ.

That bracket is either for the 1PM...

Was this the red one I saw at Rosemount U-Pull about 5 years ago?

Re: How many s series owners became ion owners

It was a hard no for me once I saw the center dash of the Ion at the car show, too distracting. IMO, one does not "graduate" to an Ion. One is a bespoke design made to compete with Japanese models,...

Re: 98 sc2 windshield glass

I would also ask them if an aftermarket is available in case you haven't, they are 22 years old. I just checked gmpartsgiant to grab the part numbers, and ran those numbers through partsvoice.com,...

Re: It's Been a While

Looks like a nice build and you've spent a ton of time on it and it seems like this would really kick even as a NA build.
I'm sure you've got a 2nd car in case the turbo doesn't go smoothly.

Re: Another engine cradle topic

IIRC, the subframe to spaceframe alignment holes are 9/16", but I used a couple of 1/2" wooden dowels and that has worked fine for a couple of subframes.

Re: Radiator foam replacement

Yes, just go to the local home improvement store (Home Depot/Menards/Lowes/ etc) and pick up a strip of "Air Conditioner Foam Weather Strip," about $4, and cut to length.

Re: Front end clunk has me stumped

From what I have experienced there are are four main causes for the clunk as long as the bushings are in good condition.

ē The way the control arm is set up, according to older posts if the...

Re: What is the foam seal on the fresh air intake on the cowl?

Supposedly that will be fine until a heavy rain happens, and it leaks through your cowl and soaks the front passenger carpet. If memory serves, old threads mention this as one of the points of water...

Re: What is the foam seal on the fresh air intake on the cowl?

I found a solution in the form of a box-handle reinforcement from a water heater box. A box-handle reinforcement is a piece of white oblong plastic that fits into the holes in the side of the box...

Re: Parking brake cables

Not that this is relevant today, but in 2010 I used the Raybestos cables for my 95 SC2 and wasn't happy with the quality. If I had to do the job over I'd definitely take a look at AC Delco.

Re: License plate screws

On my 95 SC2, I used a Menards nylon machine screw, part number 201-7787, 1/4-20x1. These work perfectly and wonít rust. I think I also used a small dab of silicone grease on them.

A lot of the...

Re: Here's a mysterious trouble...

On the 95 SC2 I got after the demise of my wagon, it also stalled at stoplights. The culprit was the fuel pressure regulator. There was fuel leaking into the intake because the diaphragm in the FPR...

Re: Stolen 96 sl2 cut wiring under steering column

Re: Clutch Pedal Bushing

Best bet is junkyard, Iím curious if the brake pedal has the same bushing and you could use one from there if you donít find a manual in the JY, but youíd have to check and see.

Out of the car,...
