Re: Which IPhone OBD2 app are you using?

Hopefully everyone reported the spam post that brought back this 6 year old post from the dead.

Re: Soft brake pedal, went to to floor, leak under driver's seat

I did that once. Then I found I had to unbend it to install, then rebend. Just make the length good and route/bend it as required.

Re: 98 SC2 project. Drive for now, maybe rebuild later.

Just updating my thread. A couple of posts that I put on the "what did you do to your S series today thread":

Re: Soft brake pedal, went to to floor, leak under driver's seat

I think others have used self-tappers for the same job. That should be fine. I think I used a 1/4" pop rivet for one of them. OldNuc didn't like it.

Re: Soft brake pedal, went to to floor, leak under driver's seat

Cheesy spot welded studs and stamped steel nuts. All S Series should be the same.

Re: Soft brake pedal, went to to floor, leak under driver's seat

I pulled up the carpet. No sealer, other than the torque of the bolt. The plastic bracket sort of acts like a gasket.

Re: Soft brake pedal, went to to floor, leak under driver's seat

I think we ran the lines to the MC from underneath and then screwed them in,. Then work backwards to the hose. With nicopp you can easily bend it for routing. Just get the length right by measuring...

Re: Soft brake pedal, went to to floor, leak under driver's seat

All the parts on the Saturn are set up for metric bubble flares. They work fine. I'm not sure why old skool double flares would be considered better. I did a lot of them on my 60s and 70s cars and I...

Re: Soft brake pedal, went to to floor, leak under driver's seat

You have to measure perfectly and no screwups to succeed with 25'. I recommend a 50' roll.

Re: 1999 SW2 no start

You have to find the parasitic draw. Best way is to pull the negative battery cable, then put an ammeter between the cable and the battery and pull fuses....

Re: Sl1 extreme wandering 60+ mph

Definitely not normal. My Saturns are solid over 90. My crazy kid has admitted to hitting the speed limiter. I've not had the '98 over 95.

Alignment and slop - that is what you are looking...

Re: Are we allowed to post our Saturn's for sale here?

I'd say yes. Also there is a classified section.

Re: Battery light flickering, RPMS go to 0 while at expressway speeds

Same for my '98 and '99. But if the terminal on the starter or the UHJB is flakey, or anywhere on the positive cable, power can be interrupted to the system.

Re: Battery light flickering, RPMS go to 0 while at expressway speeds

Alternator -> starter -> battery -> UHJB

I'm pretty sure that is the connection order

I think getting 300K out of a Saturn clutch should be easy.

Re: Battery light flickering, RPMS go to 0 while at expressway speeds

I'd check the power and ground connections from the battery for security and corrosion.

I put new gaskets on my plastic cover and it helped, for a year or so. Use the time to check out the local junkyard for an aluminum cover and bolts. Unfortunately those plastic covers warp. It was...

Re: Oil in wrong place

The aluminum valve cover swap is highly recommended. See this thread:
http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=187908

I did it on my '98.

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

I drilled up the mount points for 1/4" aluminum rivets. Mainly because that's what I had available. Otherwise use some 3/16" rivets.
