Re: how to remove stuck bolt from control arm bushing?

Yeah, 4.5in side/angle grinder with a cutting wheel is best for getting the bolt out.

Can use most any bolt, just needs to be SAE 8 or Metric 10.9 on both the bolt and the nut. I'd make a guess on...

Re: Headlight door control module location

The lights, and indeed most of the car, is ground switched. This means that everything has power going to it and is just waiting to find a ground to activate...when things work correctly they only...

Re: Headlight door control module location

Sounds like the headlight motor gears are stripped. Same part number gear was used on the Firebirds and Corvette's with pop-ups. Pretty sure most of the pop-up system was borrowed from those models...

Re: Turbo kit

If it doesn't cost over $3000 because it includes a standalone PCM, it's the wrong kit for the car. The stock PCM's have no tuning/programming options.

Re: Headlight door control module location

There's a reason you don't buy a '91 Saturn to drive around...the same reason you never buy the 1st model year of anything. Everything is unique on it and nobody knows anything LOL

Though, to be...

Re: 1997 Saturn SC2 Knock Sensor Issues

The 2 knock sensor codes I can find, since OP can't take a hint and tell us what code(s) they have:
P0326 is too much noise (things like onlinebiker mentioned)
P0327 is generally wiring issues...

Re: brake troubleshooting

Without ABS, the red "brake" light only comes on for low fluid sensed and the e-brake handle sensed as pulled. With ABS it'll sometimes come on with the ABS light, sometimes you'll only get the ABS...

Re: Wagon owners - has anyone used different trunk struts?

If you can detach the strut from the trunk lid you can push up on it to see how much higher it could go. Heck, you can check for failed struts by pushing up on it with them attached and if it goes...

Re: ABS trouble with codes

AllData says C0040 is RF speed sensor circuit.

AllData says they're all speed sensor circuit issues and all on the left side except the right front.

If the circuits aren't shorted together,...

Re: Crate motor compatability

Head's are the same with and without air injection, only the exhaust manifold changes.

Re: Is this the end?

Should probably take those junk plugs out and put NGK V-Powers, or some other cheap copper plug, in. Platinum's usually wear out in about 500 miles in these cars, not sure why people keep buying them.

Re: Crate motor compatability

Pretty sure all '99's use the '00-'02 exhaust manifold flange and the '91-'98 intake manifold flange. The air pump was only with Cali Emissions '99-'00 which likely lead to the confusion with the...

Re: KYB Rear Strut Rebuild

Makes it easier for the alignment guy if you use the camber bolts, otherwise someone has to slot out the upper bolt hole. Only the outer layer should be properly slotted so you just grind the inner...

Re: KYB Rear Strut Rebuild

The strut comes with the nut & washer that holds it all together (don't forget the washer, when you do the nut pulls through the mount fairly quickly).

The mount comes with the nuts to bolt it to...

Re: Balancing Fuel Injectors? Scotty Kilmer

Last/only time I watched Kilmer I got serious 2am Infomercial vibes and haven't been back.

The posted idea about using the PCM to balance the injectors seems sound, but IMO you'd need a wide-band...

Re: Manual transmission compatibility

Any manual trans can be used with any engine. With '96-'02 you loose cruise control when putting a MP2 on a DOHC or MP3 on a SOHC.

Skip using '91, possibly '92 as well, parts. Those years are only...

Re: 1998 sc2 header

No catalytic converter in the manifold until Cali Emission '96's came around (even then it's to supplement the main CC under the car, not replace it).

True, 100% OEM '91-'92 header:...

Re: Is this the end?

Usually the CPS is like the starter, works when it's cold but doesn't when it's hot. Same with the TPS though that's often more intermittent.

Check the fuel pressure as well. Not sure what the...

Re: Is this the end?

The swap guide, which I'd believe over anything Haynes prints, says 2-4ohms on the injectors for '91-'95.

Sounds more like something plugged the catalytic converter rather than someone removed it....

Re: 1998 sc2 header

I'd be surprised if anyone did only the header. On a '93 SL2 I did the '92 header, AEM true CAI, dual intake camshafts, auto->manual swap with MP2, '94 SC2 PCM and 7lb Fidenza flywheel. Never did a...

Re: just replaced the valve body, new problems arose

There is a relearn process for shifting but each "gear" should work. The relearn process just reduces the "slam" into each gear, has nothing to do with where the gears are.

It's possible the shift...

Re: New member with 1992 barn find.

SL had no options by default (base radio is AM/FM only) while SL1 got PS and pass side mirror. SL could be optioned with anything making it virtually indistinguishable from a SL1.

I believe the...
