Re: 2008 Redline
Congrats. Now get the GM state 2 tune and a good exhaust on the thing and enjoy the power.

Re: check engine lite with no codes
You are probably dealing with an enhanced code. If you don't have the appropriate software for your scanner, or if you do have the right kind of scanner but selected generic OBDII codes, enhanced...

Re: Tool to remove oil filter on ecotec?
The tool is Lisle - 14700
You should be able to buy it at NAPA, Pep Boys or any other place that stocks the Lisle line. At least they can order it for you if it's not in stock.
It's a nice...

Re: '99 SL1 Fuse keeps blowing
The reason the fuse is blowing is there is too much amperage going through the circuit. The diagnostics are fairly complex as you would have to monitor the circuit draw (amps) and hope to catch a...

Re: Service Light (wrench)
The Service, or wrench light, is for anything the manufacturer allows a diagnostic parameter for. This could be anything from a broken lightbulb to a slipping transmission. The MIL, or check...

Re: 2003 V6 2WD Water Pump
The water pump is not that hard of a job. While you would replace it while replacing the timing belt, it's no great loss doing it as a separate job. Takes about 1.5 hours.
You can do it without...

Re: Spark Plug Replacement?
I suppose they might be that much...if you bought them at the Saturn parts counter and paid full retail. The spec plug is Bosch FQR8LEU2 and you should be able to find them for well under $20 a set....

Re: Spark Plug Replacement?
Follow the owner's manual for service. They are conventional plugs. European cars tend to have more owner involvement in keeping the car on the road -unlike US owners who believe the hood shouldn't...

Re: tools que
You get what you pay for in any tool, air tools included. I prefer the US-made Ingersol-Rand stuff. If it's fairly light duty, occasional use stuff, you can get by with the cheap China tools,...

Re: nitrous
Your buddy should have explained why so you would have some context for the practice. The more power an engine makes, the more heat it generates. The top piston ring is directly exposed to this...

Re: let's say
You can change just the filter. You will lose only the amount of oil in the filter. The filter is above the oil level in the sump.
But you're working under a false premise. The filter's useful...

Re: Help! P0420 code Freeze frame data included.
It becomes an urgent repair once the cat becomes clogged and the engine performance drops off dramatically. That may never happen so you could go on until the wheels fall off if you can live with...

Re: Help! P0420 code Freeze frame data included.
None of that freeze frame data is useful in diagnosing the P0420. All it shows me is the engine was up to temp, at idle, and your short term fuel trims are close to zero (where they should be). You...

I wouldn't be too hasty to judge on the Russian-made CVT belts. Remember, Russia has some of the finest engineers and scientists working in alternative industries with the downturn in the defense...

I had a similar result when switching from regular to premium. My intent was to address a spark knock issue. I purchased the Astra in June ’08 and drove it for a couple of months using regular...

Re: Oil life monitor
I would not make that a practice with a vehicle under warranty. Even though I use Mobil 1, I still make sure to change oil within the OLM (around 6k miles and six months for me) and document such on...

Re: Oil life monitor
We've never had an oil question. Should prove interesting. The OLM does not know what type of oil is in the crankcase. It's only using an algorithm computing cold starts, run time, engine temp,...

Re: How bad is overfilling power steering fluid?
The fluid expands when it heats up. It can create a mess in the engine bay when it overflows the reservoir, but it won't damage the PS system. I'd suck out the overfill to keep it from puking.

Re: deck plate
A deck plate is used in the boring and honing process. It is not retained beyond that. A machine shop would own them (for various engine designs). What the plate does is simulate the distortions...
