The locks are at wire' s ends - and do nothing to neaten things up. They affix the spark plug end to the valve cover bolts and the coil end to...

Come to think of it - I DID have a plug wire fall off once.
On a R/C airplane I built. A 42 inch wingspan biplane with a Quadra 42 cc gas engine (basically a chainsaw engine)
It was literally...

I think some engineer was worried about his job - so he created a problem - and surprise, surprise - he also had the remedy.........

Spark plug wire keepers
My 2002 SC2s has the retainers that lock the plug wires to the coils and engine.l
I take them off and leave them off. ( replace coil bolt wirh shorter one)
Has anyone ever actually had a plug...
