Re: Burning Through Throttle Position Sensors

Itís a good idea to replace the connector when replacing the tps. Iíve also had this happen from the harness pins failing at the connector. Back probed the sensor signal and ground at the pcm and the...

Re: Shift Cable Rod End Alternatives

Yea I gave up on the SS bushings. When I had them Iíd tighten them each oil change. But eventually the lack of axial rotation breaks the ends off. I just replaced the entire assembly with oem cables.

Re: No cold air

Nearly all of them. Reman'd compressors and new Chinese compressors rarely work in my experience. Either they leak or they don't produce good pressure. Even seen then blow apart throwing bearings...

Re: Rear Main Seal Leak

True, plus the bell housing isn't sealed so it would be difficult for oil to pool in it.

Re: Rear Main Seal Leak

That's theoretically possible but I've never seen it. The leak would be behind the flywheel and slipping would require it to get on the other side. I won't disagree that it can happen but I've just...

Re: Rear Main Seal Leak

Far more trouble than worth it for a slow leak. Just switch to a 100,000 mile oil that has seal expanders in it.

Re: Output Shaft Quill Seal Qs

If you go to pick n pull you'll probably find a dozen lying on the ground. These transmissions are far from rare.

Re: Which scan tool can open and close solenoid?

Back in dinosaur days the tech II was a physical box that plugged into the port. Today GM uses Tech2Win which is software. It requires a MDI connector between the car and the PC. vxDiag sells the...

Re: Testing Fuel Pump Beore Installation

100% yes do it. Most even say that in the instructions. Before pulling the car apart just put some test wires on the pump for 1 or 2 seconds and make sure it makes a noise. You will not damage it at...

Re: Fuel Pump Access Door / No need to drop tank!

Not sure why people make such a big deal about dropping the tank. Slightly annoying but not a big deal. I certainly would waste time cutting holes to avoid it.

Re: Steering rack leak

Got a pretty good leak at the intermediate steering shaft input. Considering trying to replace the seal vs get a j/y rack. Anyone here have experience replacing that seal?

Re: '94 SL2 clutch R & R

You can skip the cherry picker. Just support the engine from the bottom. The engine isnít moved in the process.

Re: '94 SL2 clutch R & R

Disc align isn't the problem. Aligning the input shaft takes some cursing and wiggling. But if someone is wiggling the crank at the same time it helps.

Re: '94 SL2 clutch R & R

If solo the one "trick" if there is one is when putting the transmission back in you need to wiggle the crank shaft to get the splines in. So set up a ratchet on the crank so you can wiggle it with...

Re: '94 SL2 clutch R & R

No need to support the transmission really at all. It will go from being supported by the engine to resting on the frame. Just a lot of wiggling.

Once you remove the battery box and air filter box...

Re: '94 SL2 clutch R & R

1) No need to touch anything with the engine itself. Just support the rear of the engine. It won't move.
2) You'll remove the left axle but the right axle intermediate shaft slides off so no reason...

Re: Prep to adjust valve lash on an '05 3.5L V6

Those sound good. Also its much easier with the bend lash tool or you can take a tool and bend your feelers.

If you change out the seals around the spark holes in the cover be super careful that...

Re: Keeping an SL2 alive

May I ask why youíre pulling the engine? The clutch is easily done with the transmission slid over into the wheel well. Last one I did was less than a 2 hour job. Pulling the motor makes this a big...

Re: Benefit to de-rusting hubs and rotors?

If you donít clean it off you may get wobble. You donít want the surface to have rust lumps on it.
