Re: 2002 Saturn SL-2 Air Conditioning Not Working
Or, did the oil "missing" from the old compressor simply go out the same leak as the refrigerant???
This brings up a glaring deficiency with the "put back in what you drained out" theory.
Let's...

Re: Troubleshooting TAAT Hard Shift
Yes, you remove the TFT sensor, the smaller one near/under the spin-on trans filter, and install the gauge in that port. It is common 1/8" National Pipe threads, so any adapter fittings needed are...

Re: Manual Trans shifter cable woes
I think the OP is asking about the bushing on the other end of the cable, at the trans.
Yes, the bushing at the trans end seems to be easier to replace, as it doesn't have to swivel in two...

Re: Burning Through Throttle Position Sensors
I can't help. My gen1s don't have that gizmo, which I think is for fresh air to be added to the exhaust to help burning of HC/CO. They used to call it "A.I.R", for air injection reaction, back in...

Re: Burning Through Throttle Position Sensors
Check the contacts in the harness connector for the TPS; look for contacts that are corroded or "sprung open" so as to make poor contact. Tug on each wire and make sure none feel like they are...

Re: 2002 Saturn SL-2 Air Conditioning Not Working
I don't know. I have only gen1 cars, and have barely seen that drier on those.
Just to worry you, though, there have been some threads here where folks ordered/received units that were "not quite...

Re: Persistent, Intermittent High Idle
Sure, I read it, and there was little on how a stepper operates. Worse yet, some of that was wrong. I don't think the author really knows much about steppers in general.
Both coils are used to...

Re: 4-Pin Relay Orientation?
What year is your car? There was a similar question in another thread just recently that I posted to, but I can't find that thread. Point is, on my gen1s, #30 socket is not connected to the...

Re: Persistent, Intermittent High Idle
Nope, that is not how a stepper works. Both coils have to be energized to drive in either direction, and with specific polarity pattern.
There is no simple way to drive them; and limited way to...

Re: 1997 SC1 original pcm search
Do the PCMs all have the original labels on them? Do the P/Ns and description on the PCMs correspond to the vehicle engine and trans type? That much is easy to check from the VIN.
A vendor...

Re: Your favorite tires?
Wow, when this thread started I was afraid to say I go for the cheapest 195; I figured I would get blasted!
Although the cheapest at my local America's Tire is H ($60), I don't insist on H. My...

Re: Troubleshooting TAAT Hard Shift
The LP solenoid is on the VB, and is identical to the other four solenoids there. You can check resistance of all those solenoids from outside the trans, at the 10-pin connector on top of the VB...

Re: Troubleshooting TAAT Hard Shift
Yeah, my mistake on the P/N vs D, sorry. I'm old and it was late at night, that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!
That top "test" terminal is separate from the range function, and has a quite...

Re: Troubleshooting TAAT Hard Shift
I'm not sure which switch terminals you are using for the adjustment, but if you use the correct ones there will be continuity (tone) in only P and N; can't use any forward gear or R.

Re: need window wisdom - lubing a window
I would try cleaning with alcohol, either ethanol or isopropyl. Squirt/pour some into the track just above the window edge and then run the window up/down to wipe it a round. Keep putting in...

Re: 1999 SC2 lazy cranking
Don't they all (with original pistons) burn that much oil? My '94/95 SL2s burn that much, or more. The plugs keep clean on both and they both routinely pass Calif. emissions testing. I just add...
