Re: Driver' s door indicator switch

Two part numbers makes sense as they made 2 door and 3 door within that model year. From the part photos one appears to be the switch on the lower pillar like my 99 SL2 and the other the switch on...

Re: What is this? Suspicious clean metal beneath brake fluid reservoir

I believe that is the shift linkage for your transmission. It's attached to the shift tower on your transmission an moves every time you shift. This is what keeps it clean-ish.

I'm not sure what...

Re: It's been a pleasure - sold both Saturns

Nice Focus RS! I'm sure that scoots along really well. I've been please with my 2012 Ford Focus SEL MT. Not as high performance as the RS but still a fun and pleasant car to drive.

I sure...

Re: Jumper cables on a 2002 sl2 Saturn battery.... stupid question?

I think these are them but let me know if I'm wrong. Note in the second photo how you insert into the battery cable clamps to get a good connection. They don't go onto the battery but rather into...

Re: Thermostat.... again?

The one that has been recommended for years on this site is the Stant 14279 which is used with the OEM housing. If used with a non-OEM housing (like MotoRad) the Stant thermostat cannot fully open...

Re: 2001 SL2 - Car doesn't start, just clicks

I'm thinking a bad battery connection or a bad battery cell.

I had this happen once and it was the battery cable connection. The positive battery cable has some corrosion from battery acid. The...

Re: Dashcam Power Setup

Here's a thread (http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195587) that I created that has the accessory power add in that I used to install seat heaters. Take a look at post 8...

Re: and so it begins....

Here are some pics of the finished result. They put plate steel in and welded the nuts to it. Stronger than it was new.

I had my son-in-law apply rust proofing to the undercarriage yesterday...

Re: and so it begins....

So I took the plunge today and I'm having both trailing are mounts restructured and replacing the trailing arms. I'll be around a little longer....

Re: Help!! Car broke down!!

When my A/C compressor seized it stalled out the car. I was good as long as I didn't turn on the A/C.

This happened in a 95 Nissan Altima I once owned too. I didn't know what had happened at...

Re: Where to find new interior parts in 2021?

New old stock parts for S Series are getting scarce but here are some sites to check out. You need to figure out the part numbers first then plug them in to see if you get any hits. The first one...

Re: AC compressor model number

Yes it matters. On my former 2001 SL1 the first compressor bought wouldn't allow me to reinstall the air injection system that sits above it. Only certain compressors will work for the 1999-2002 S...

Re: No power to wheels

Oh wow. They usually snap in the center of the axle shaft between the outer and inner CV joint. Some have a rubber cylinder (damper) there while others do not. Rust seeps in under the damper and...

Re: S series junkyard autopsies/who says small cars are unsafe?

In it's early stages you can perform a procedure called wolfman's reverse slam cure. It's basically changing the fluid and filter, securing the car and putting it in reverse and letting it sit for...

Re: S series junkyard autopsies/who says small cars are unsafe?

In the S Series when the transmission service schedule is not followed the valve body ports get sludge which causes a hard shift that is most prominent in reverse at the onset. If left too long then...

Re: and so it begins....

That's a tall order. There are not too many of these running the roads around here for the same reason. I haven't seen one advertised for months.

Re: and so it begins....

It's the metal or lack of metal fore and aft that is creeping in on these mounts that is the issue. I can poke holes through it with a screw driver.

Re: and so it begins....

Well the fate of the 99 SL2 is not looking good. The trailing arm mounts are pretty bad and I don't have the skill set to fix this. There's not too many people around anymore that want to deal with...

Re: Outer door handle pins? '96 SW2

Small zip tie to "tie" you over until you can get a proper pin. The FLAPS usually have an assorted pins bin where you can purchase just one. If you are buying other stuff they usually just give it...

Re: 2000 Saturn SL2 cruise control installation

I've mentioned this before; the PCM, BCM and Security Module (ignition) are "married" to one another. You can only change one at a time; you need the other 2 to enable the one being swapped in.

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Get the exhaust hanger fixed as it will stress your mid-pipe and it will eventually crack. An exhaust shop will weld a new one on in a few minutes. I wouldn't be surprised if they sent you out the...

Re: and so it begins....

The A/C on the 99 SL2 was on it's way out. The compressor was still running but the cooling was marginal. I thought I saw a leak at the compressor when I looked with black light however I'm told...

Re: How did you get involved with Saturn

In the spring of 1992 (my mid 20's) I had an accident that totaled out my 3 year old Plymouth Sundance which I had purchased new. I was on the hunt for a replacement and happened upon the new Saturn...
