Re: Soft brake pedal, went to to floor, leak under driver's seat

Bubble flare is mostly just an unfinished double flare. Follow the steps for the double flare, just don't finish it with the countersink. There are specific dies for bubble flare but those kits are...

Re: Front seats

The front seats bolt in the same '91-'02. The passenger seat bottom is wider than the driver but I don't believe it's enough to stop swapping. DOHC seats have adjustable headrests on both and...

Re: OBD1 to OBD2 Adapter

The OBDII reader has to be OBDI compatible in the first place, all the adapters do is change the plug. Also, if the reader can't do live OBDI data then it's not more useful than a paperclip.

Re: Valve cover gasket

Good time to inspect the timing chain, gears & play in the chain. Also good time to check camshaft lobe wear. You can't really do anything to fix any of the parts with only the VC off, but it can...

Re: Changing Engine Mounts: '94 SL2 Automatic

You may have to drop the cradle or cut the stud on the mount to get the transmission mount in. The 5spds are smaller and go up high enough before hitting the fender to get most of the mounts in...

Re: Soft brake pedal, went to to floor, leak under driver's seat

Factory lines are steel.
Nicopp is easier to work with as it's softer and you can get a 3/16in 25ft kit on Amazon for under $40, including 16 fittings. Much better than the FLAPS wanting $30+ for a...

Re: 2000 Sw2 77k miles trans issues.

The diagram I can currently find is for '99 (so if the wire colors don't match up this is wrong for your year) and says:
Actuator) Power/Ground
2nd) White/Lt Green
3rd) Lt Green/Yellow-Black
4th)...

Re: 97 sl1 can't find throttle body that matches

They bolt onto the intake the same '91-'97, but the vacuum harness on top changes sometime between the start of the 1995 MY and the end of the 1996 MY. They're the same for both engines so you might...

Re: I'm back in the saddle again.

Whats with the '93 SL2's and getting rid of them being our worst car decisions ever? lol
I miss having an S-Series in general but the '93 SL2 I had was the best of the lot and I miss it the most.

I was suspecting this when I read your first post but your most recent one confirms it, at least in my mind.

Re: Front subframe bushings?

Can't decide if I've never seen them on the S-Series or if they are just super thin bits of rubber with an OD roughly the size of the mating surface of the subframe.

I am sure I've never seen a...

Re: Lights on Dash

If the oil change tech couldn't tell you that that is the check engine light, you need a new oil change tech.

I suspect by you posting in the S-Series forum and saying you have an L300 you bought...

Re: Daytime Running Lights Quit Working

Maybe they started in '96 for USA and earlier for Canadian models. I don't remember them now on any of my '93-'95's either; all my '96's were SC2's.

Re: Daytime Running Lights Quit Working

Only the '91-'92 SC and '93-'96 SC2 had the possibility of a separate DRL bulb (even then I think it was a Canadian only thing). All other models & years the high beams are the DRL's.

I've traced...

Re: Stuck tie rod jamb nuts

Pipe wrenches work amazing on tie rods, except maybe not the cheap ones I keep bending.

If you break the nut free of the TRE first it'll be easier to break it free of the TR.

Re: 97 sc2 seat

Front seats bolt in from any year to any year. Only "gotcha" is the belt buckle bolted to the seat bottom, it changes sometime '99-'00 so if you're going across that year range be sure to swap the...

Re: 2001 SC2 parking break doesn't seem to pull the cable-pulling mechanism.....

There's 1 cable off the parking brake arm, the end of that has a load-leveling piece that connects the 2 separate cables to each rear wheel.
I believe 3rd gen center consoles are the hardest to...

Re: Rear brake line burst

Re: I've tried everything but still Poor MPG, odd shifting + more

Some sort of vacuum leak for sure. Intermittent issues are often impossible to diagnose unless there's a specific pattern of actions to reproduce.

It's usually a bad idea to clean the IAC so I'd...

Re: Spark plug wire keepers

Re: Saturn SL-1 clutch not *fully* dis-engaging

With hydraulic systems like brake lines and clutch lines, there's no real return path for the fluid to take (like a power steering or auto transmission hydraulic system). Unless you open the far end...

Re: Raybestos front brake hose Manufacturing defect

Any tools to bend them the required way? I'd say at least a 4" vice mounted to something and vice grips. Worth trying if RA won't refund the full item value.
