Re: 1997 SW2 Crank but no start, stuck on wiring.

The crank position sensor loves to fail when hot, usually after about 10min of run time. Could be the ICM again, especially if it's a crap aftermarket unit, but the symptoms are more CPS.

The...

Re: 1997 Saturn SL Security System Horn Deactivation

Not sure on that specific question. I know using the fob turns the alarm off, never saw the point in unlocking with the key after locking with the fob. I kinda remember it honking on my '97's until I...

Re: 1997 Saturn SL Security System Horn Deactivation

'97-'99 RKE guide: http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59192
'96 use's the same procedure for the fobs but IIRC it has no security options.

Re: Parts from 1997 SL2 --> 2000 SL2

My Gen 3 SC2 had the worst seats of any S-Series I've ever been in, including the faux-leather things in a '93 SL2 that I freaking hated because I'd slide around in the corners. Front seats are all...

Re: 2000 Saturn SL2 cruise control installation

Should just be a standard PassLock VIN programming match that just about any '00+ GM requires if you're swapping BCM's.

This thread should help for programming the specific options:...

Re: No Condenser Push Fan ? Are You Serious ?

The S-Series fan has 1 mode..."HIGH". It push's more air than 95% of aftermarket options and cooling the big HP turbo car's is only a problem because they can't fit the stock fan.

If you can't...

Re: Mud flaps and Hood bra for 2000 SL1?

Both of those are rare options, though I know I've seen more hood bra's than mud flaps.
The bra's, even the factory ones, are crap and do more harm to the paint in 2 years unless you take it off...

Re: New clutch installed now no shift...

With new hydraulics there should be a trio of oversized zip-ties going from the center of the rod to the slave. Leave those installed when you put the slave in, they break upon first use and properly...

Re: Saturn 2000 SL2 rear frame repair

Only S-Series models and if you want to keep the rear sway bar then its easier if you get another DOHC ('91-'92 SC, '91-'02 SL2/SW2, '93-'02 SC2). Which year? Any ('91-'02). Just get the most rust...

Re: 2000 Saturn SL2 cruise control installation

It ought to be in the new owners post that if you own a 3rd gen you're required to use a Tech II for just about everything that was literally plug 'n' play '91-'99.

Re: Orange Wrench/Service Light First Time Ever

The wrench light is for non-emission related codes. You have to have a Tech II level tool to read the codes. Usually it's just stupid crap like a bulb out on the gauge cluster. I don't think the...

Re: Lowering springs

There have been various options over the years, only H&R Sports were mass produced enough to still likely be a viable option. Possibly the Eibach's as well. H&R Sports were better for spirited...

Re: Non Standard Belt Size

You just need something to wrap around the pulleys that isn't going to stretch an annoying amount. Bailing twine, nylon rope, mechanics wire, etc should all work. Shoelace will get you close but it's...

Re: Let The Headliner Repair Begin!

I don't think I'd use anything approaching "soggy" on the fiberboard the S-Series use's for a headliner backer. A softish plastic bristle brush and some elbow grease is all you need to take the...

Re: Non Standard Belt Size

If you have the stock alternator...change it. Strap wrench or pipe wrench or similar to hold the pulley in place and then a couple ugga-dugga's should take it right off. Can be done with hand ratchet...

Re: 2002 SL2 window locks clicking, initiated security lock out.

It's approx $20 for a new door lock switch. 99% of the time it's only the driver door switch that breaks. I'm doubtful there's anything else wrong with the system, that switch is made out of cow pies...

Re: Possible Trans swap donor car

It's a good way to get the mechanical bits, but it won't get you a PCM that works properly with a 5spd transmission in the '99. They changed in '00.

I think the in-car shift tower is different...

Re: computer for 97 SL1

Swap the factory PCM for a Megasquirt or similar and do what you want with the tuning. The part of the program that says how the engine runs and how the transmission shifts is encrypted and nobody's...

Re: Coupe front end + popup headlights swap to SW?

It's close to bolt-in on 1st gen (don't forget the hood), but the pop-ups don't come close to matching anything on 2nd gen. 2nd and 3rd gen's are all stupid bubbly while 1st gen has nice crisp lines...

Re: Location of RKE relay

3rd gen have RKE combined into the new for 3rd gen BCM and renamed Passlock. None of the 2nd gen info on keyless entry is correct for '00-'02.

Re: Sway Bar Bushings

IMO don't mess with the sway bar unless 100% required AND you have access to metal fab tools (cutting & welding). You might get lucky and not need them, but more likely you will need them.

I know...

Re: Alignment For A Smooth Ride

Generally toe-in means outer tire-edge wear, toe-out means inner tire-edge wear. 0 toe means even tire wear and the longest tread life.

The same people that think the factory knows best about the...

Re: Blend door motor ??

Only the blower motor that moves the air around. Rather annoying to get to due to the size of the car (you have to stuff yourself into the passenger foot-well), it's held in with 3x 7mm hex head...

Re: SOHC Intake Manifold Removal *Quick help needed!*

You'll get some, not much, rocking room with the upper mount and dog bones removed, the trans mount will block a lot of it if you don't remove the rear most bolt and loosen the forward bolt a bit.
