Got the sensor replaced last week. It was pretty easy. After some careful measuring, we cut a square opening in the floor of the trunk to access it.

Turn out my issue wasn't the VVT solenoids, it was the plugs and coils. Confirmed by using my OBDII app and monitoring cylinder misfires during my commute to and from work.
Found the plugs needed...

We retorqued the input shaft nut and we have reverse back. There is some harsh shifting between fist and second gear now. But I'm hoping that's because of the new valve body and will start to smooth...
