Re: HVAC blower motor issues

You'll be sorry to hear that OldNuc passed away the spring of 2020. His name is Rich Goodin.

Re: Problem with engine RPMS falling too slowly when put clutch in-- SL-1

If you ever tried shifting without the clutch, the RPMs need to be up there anyways to find the sweet spot where the engine RPM is matched to the transmission. This perceived "long time to fall off"...

Re: Intermittent slipping clutch SL-1

Could it be the rear main seal or quill bearing seal is leaking and contaminating the friction disk?

Re: Crank, No Start on "new" '93 SL2 (77k!!!) UPDATE

As cgg17 mentioned the fan did not come on with the A/C button likely due to the ambient temperature being too low. I think it has to be above 40F if I recall before the PCM will allow the A/C to...

Re: Mirroring green

That's Paul Pellerito from Pontiac Michigan. He's pretty active on the Saturn facebook groups. He has a few other Saturn's too. The "Red Sled" and "Betty White" - both 1st gen SC2's.

Re: Clunk in manual trans drivetrain

When I had that experience it was that the 3 bolts on the timing cover for the upper motor mount that had loosened off. I torqued them down to spec and the problem went away. I've heard of others...

Re: Soft brake pedal, went to to floor, leak under driver's seat

If you're just moving it around the driveway you can pinch that line with a pair of vice grips before the leak. Keep the vice grips on it. Top up your master cylinder and that will get you through.

Re: Output Shaft Quill Seal Qs

I found the housing NOS for $88.63 USD plus shipping. I don't need one but almost feel compelled to scoop it up. Add in shipping to Canada and it is close to $300 CAD. In the States it looks like...

Re: Another poor heat thread...

If you have a block heater that will help get the engine temp up faster.

Keep your original housing in case you need it in the future.

Compared my other 2 vehicles the Saturn is notably...

Re: Another poor heat thread...

First of all, 197F is a more then decent running temperature but you indicated that it was slow getting there so you did likely need a thermostat. The operating temp of all S Series is ~193F and is...

Re: 99 SC2 Possible F5 with a twist

I'd say Band-Aid solution from the previous owner. When the F-5 terminal overheats from an overloaded circuit (cigarette lighter used for power and/or high power aftermarket radio) the terminal...

Re: 97 sl1 can't find throttle body that matches

The GM part number is 21006941 and it looks like you can still by them new from GM for about $150 (discounted). Just google the part number and you'll get lots of options.

The fit indicates...

Re: Right transmission for my 98 sc2

I looked through a few of your other posts and a while back you indicated you wanted to sell the SC2 in favor of a manual transmission. Swapping a manual transmission into your SC2 is a viable...

Re: Right transmission for my 98 sc2

Tell us more about what the transmission is doing. You may not necessarily need to replace it as there are a few common problems that can be fixed without too much effort. Certainly at less cost...

Re: Oil in wrong place

I think that sounds about right. I came across this post in another forum and then this gasket set; note the dates. The additional notes say "w/ Black Composite Valve Cover"

So has anyone ever...

Re: Oil in wrong place

That's a good question. Rock Auto shows gaskets for both under the 1995 model year. It seems to me that 95 might have been a transition year and some were made with composite after they depleted...

Re: Battery light flickering, RPMS go to 0 while at expressway speeds

A loose battery post wire would drop all current so all electronics would go dead and all your gauge cluster would be dead. In your case you indicated that the radio and all stayed on. Since you...

Re: Manual Clutch Engagement Question

If it is not slipping then I wouldn't worry too much about it. When it's time you note that it will slip going up hills or under hard acceleration. The RPMs will shoot up abnormally. That is your...

Re: Oil in wrong place

Yep. You need to pull the valve cover and replace the gasket. It's a common problem. If you have the composite valve cover you may want to look at obtaining the aluminum version from the earlier...

Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

If that was local to me I might pay the $6K they want for it. I would manual swap it for sure. I miss my GEN1 sedan and wagon. I haven't seen a GEN1 around here for years.

Re: Low Temperature still after thermostat and coolant temperature sensor

That does sound strange. The Stant 14279 thermostat is a 188/195F thermostat. I mostly see it displayed as 195F in the marketing I've seen. The seal cracks open at 188F and the thermostat is full...
