Re: Can I swap a sl1 engine into a sl2 car?

YMMV, but IMO worries about old gas are overrated. I just add fresh gas and run the car. Worst issue I've personally seen is a a short period of rough idling. Though, first full tank of gas, I'll...

Re: Cant open door! 1992 SC

There's some actuator rods inside the door that are attached to the inside and outside handles, and door lock. They are connected by plastic bits that break.

Re: Well.. it happened. Who needs a parts car in MI?

Bummer about the car, didn't realize I'd been off the forum for so long. At least parts went to a good home though and will keep another car on the road (or the car will get fixed and sold for some...

Re: 2001 Saturn sl2, maintenance questions and more.

Maybe an oil catch can between the PCV and intake?

If the inside of the intake air tube is oily, maybe some kind of filter or catch can up there at the breather hose, too.

Re: My 1992 SC turned 30 years old!

Congrats! 30 years and an original owner, to boot!

I haven't been reading the forums for several months, glad I checked in today (this was the thread on top).

Sounds like the motor may...

Re: Handbrake Button - Parking brake handle button

It's 2022! :D That means Saturn parts are hard to find.

It also means you can print your own (what a time to be alive!)

Serpentine belt and alternator?

Battery is only used to start the car. Once running, the alternator provides the power to keep the car running.

If the belt breaks or alternator weakens/dies,...

Re: SW wagon good for a long road trip?

The Saturn with the most miles that I am aware of was an auto trans.

To be fair, the owner changed the ATF every 10k miles. But the trans and engine were 100% original at the 883,000 mile mark,...

Re: What's your favorite product to restore your dashboard?

I use Aerospace 303.

Re: New to Saturn

I think that may have developed as a "shortcut / eyeball" way of checking the top mount. The OEM Saturn method involved a ruler/straight edge.

I attached the TSB-01-T-30A for top engine mount...

Re: What makes the AC not cold enough?

Re: Can you tell without lifting it' s leg?

Saturn did some odd things towards the end of year/model runs. Sometimes, cars got 'upgrades' like your seats when they were using up parts. In particular, late 2002 model SOHC cars ended up with...

Re: Can you tell without lifting it' s leg?

It's pretty subtle, but the 3rd gen body style SC1 came with a flatter rear trunk spoiler. The SC2 has a small upward turning lip "extension" at the rear of the spoiler. No other clues on the body...
