I believe dielectric grease is non conductive. So your theory is not correct.

Apparently my manifold high pressure gauge has failed. Even though it never showed the high side to be over 100 PSI I had over filled the system.
Took the car to someone I know who has an A/C...

02 L300 with 212K miles.
A/C has always worked well until now.
A/C was not cooling. Clutch was not engaging.
Hooked up gauge set,proceeded to add refrigerant.Things seemed normal at first , but...

Had the same problem a few years ago on a 96 Olds.
In my case the wire that plugs into the alternator that tells the alternator what the battery voltage is had a cut in the insulation and the wire...

My experience has been that if the crank position sensor is bad, the engine will not turn over. Will not do anything.

All you need to do for an inspection of the chain
and guides is to remove the valve cover.

It very well could be timing chain & guides failing.
I would at least remove the valve cover and take a look.
Cheaper and easier than replacing the engine.
And you know what you have.

The shaft seal is the only thing that needs replaced.
Was hoping to do it in the car. Without removing the pump.
