2005 also had painted mirrors and an aluminium brushed trim piece around the shifter.
That's what I can remember that was new for 2005

Except the fact that you will have you tire monitor light on all the winter, no it will not affect the ABS or void your waranty.

According to the Saturn Service manual :
Open the lift gate.
Remove the lift gate trim panel.
Remove the lock cylinder.
Disconnect the outside handle swing over clip from the outside handle...

I too have a 98 sc2 and the RKE module is in the passenger rear fender. To access it you have to remove the right interior rear trim.

I just gived an example of what would be great to have. It could be any 6 speeds out there or a completly new 6 speeds. The only point that I say is that I would have liked to have a 6 speeds.

I would check the ETCS (temperature sensor) which if you do a search is a common failure on these cars. I pretty that it could cause your problem. Also it's a cheap repair about 15$ dollars.
