Re: 2001 SC2 lilting while turning at 40ish and above

Okay, good luck. Please keep us advised as to what you find is the problem.

Re: 2001 SC2 lilting while turning at 40ish and above

What you describe sounds gross enough that 15 minutes of visual inspection should have resulted in better diagnosis. I'm worried your mechanic isn't proficient with suspension systems, and that you...

Re: 2002 SL1, no fuel pump signal, no spark, fuel on empty

We may never find out.

If you are having a problem, you are better off starting a new thread. Even if your symptoms seem similar, we would like to hear about all your specific issues and...

Re: 2002 Saturn SL-2 Air Conditioning Not Working

Or, did the oil "missing" from the old compressor simply go out the same leak as the refrigerant???

This brings up a glaring deficiency with the "put back in what you drained out" theory.

Let's...

Re: 98 SC2 P171-Fuel trim System Lean, help fix Please!

You could disconnect/remove the fuel filter/reg and connect the gauge directly to the line from the pump; testing the pump without any effects from the filter/reg. Use hose and clamps to make...

Re: Troubleshooting TAAT Hard Shift

Yes, you remove the TFT sensor, the smaller one near/under the spin-on trans filter, and install the gauge in that port. It is common 1/8" National Pipe threads, so any adapter fittings needed are...

Re: Troubleshooting TAAT Hard Shift

Get on to that fuse-pull test for LP. It is reasonably cheap and easy to do, and could be quite revealing.

Re: Manual Trans shifter cable woes

I think the OP is asking about the bushing on the other end of the cable, at the trans.

Yes, the bushing at the trans end seems to be easier to replace, as it doesn't have to swivel in two...

Re: Burning Through Throttle Position Sensors

I can't help. My gen1s don't have that gizmo, which I think is for fresh air to be added to the exhaust to help burning of HC/CO. They used to call it "A.I.R", for air injection reaction, back in...

Re: Burning Through Throttle Position Sensors

Check the contacts in the harness connector for the TPS; look for contacts that are corroded or "sprung open" so as to make poor contact. Tug on each wire and make sure none feel like they are...

Re: 2002 Saturn SL-2 Air Conditioning Not Working

I don't know. I have only gen1 cars, and have barely seen that drier on those.

Just to worry you, though, there have been some threads here where folks ordered/received units that were "not quite...

Re: 2002 Saturn SL-2 Air Conditioning Not Working

It is in front of the driver-side front wheel. You have to take off the plastic wheel-well splash-shield to even see that drier.

Re: Persistent, Intermittent High Idle

Sure, I read it, and there was little on how a stepper operates. Worse yet, some of that was wrong. I don't think the author really knows much about steppers in general.

Both coils are used to...

Re: 4-Pin Relay Orientation?

What year is your car? There was a similar question in another thread just recently that I posted to, but I can't find that thread. Point is, on my gen1s, #30 socket is not connected to the...

Re: Persistent, Intermittent High Idle

Nope, that is not how a stepper works. Both coils have to be energized to drive in either direction, and with specific polarity pattern.

There is no simple way to drive them; and limited way to...

Re: 98 SC2 P171-Fuel trim System Lean, help fix Please!

That ECT sensor is easy to check/change, so do it; but the ECT shown in live-data is 199F. I doubt the ECT is the problem.

Check for vacuum leaking in the PCV system and the power-brake system. ...

Re: 1997 SC1 original pcm search

Do the PCMs all have the original labels on them? Do the P/Ns and description on the PCMs correspond to the vehicle engine and trans type? That much is easy to check from the VIN.

A vendor...

Re: Your favorite tires?

Wow, when this thread started I was afraid to say I go for the cheapest 195; I figured I would get blasted!

Although the cheapest at my local America's Tire is H ($60), I don't insist on H. My...

Re: Troubleshooting TAAT Hard Shift

The LP solenoid is on the VB, and is identical to the other four solenoids there. You can check resistance of all those solenoids from outside the trans, at the 10-pin connector on top of the VB...

Re: Troubleshooting TAAT Hard Shift

Yeah, my mistake on the P/N vs D, sorry. I'm old and it was late at night, that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!

That top "test" terminal is separate from the range function, and has a quite...

Re: Troubleshooting TAAT Hard Shift

I'm not sure which switch terminals you are using for the adjustment, but if you use the correct ones there will be continuity (tone) in only P and N; can't use any forward gear or R.

Re: 2002 Saturn SL-2 Air Conditioning Not Working

Try at 87. I just checked, my gen1 is wired with the 87s "always hot", not the 30s.

Re: 2002 Saturn SL-2 Air Conditioning Not Working

Be honest with me here: are you ever going to read voltage at #30 and try jumping it to #87? If not, I will wish you good luck but abandon my attempt to help.

Re: 2002 Saturn SL-2 Air Conditioning Not Working

Check for 12V at socket for pin #30, that should have power at all times. Then, jumper #30 to #87, that will bypass the relay and should energize the clutch coil.
