In my post I mentioned C clips. DFryer had mentioned them and I re-used that term. As it turns out he was wrong and in requoting, so was I. Their proper name is Clic-R Clips. Some folks...

That said the IMRC component is something we had an issue with on my son's 2003 L300. It's a simple throttle type valve...

I checked in my Haynes and it appears to have the same picture as you have.
According to that photo in Haynes, the flat, crimped edge of the filter is at the back pointing toward the rear of the car...

The photos you posted tell us a little but not much as none of us here can see the bigger picture. I would strongly suggest that

Your car is starting and running. Correct?

If that's so then you are getting the 3 things you need for the engine to fire 1) Gas 2) Spark, 3) Air.

Battery condition these days does affect a lot...
