Re: uooer motor mount sale

This one for $24.79? I don't recall others here comment on their experience with Marmon quality -- but I could be wrong.

Re: Trailer hitch installation - remove exhaust?

The hitch I have (Curt?/Uhaul?) attaches to the floor of the deck in little fore & aft channels on either side of the tire well. I think the topside were carriage bolts so they don't stick up and...

Re: Is this the end?

Curious, since the car seemed to be running just fine until you jacked it up and had it on jack stands, is there any chance you crimped the fuel supply or return to tank hose -- causing issues with...

Re: Trailer hitch installation - remove exhaust?

I installed a hitch some 15 years ago, and don't recall removing the muffler, but I recall removing the rubber hanger(S) temporarily.

Wasn't too bad a job with jackstands to get under there with...

Richpin video on pulling it out/replacing it. Definitely the pins can corrode, so reseating the module will cure a lot of defroster issues.

Re: Wagon owners - has anyone used different trunk struts?

I replaced my OEM struts a few years back when they got a bit weak. The hatch opens up faster, but doesn't go higher with new ones. If you push up on the gate as far as it goes, that's it. The...

Re: Need a new radiator

Folks have reported decent luck with Nippon Denso radiators. I'm still on my OEM radiator, thank goodness, so I have no direct experience with this component, although Denso does tend to have a...

Re: Rear disc conversion

IIRC, the stopping distance changes from rear drums to disks is really small. Worth it vs. buying better tires and front caliper/pads?

Re: Why is the Clutch squeaking in my 97 SL1?

The Sylglyde did help quiet it down substantially, but the noise came back in 2-3 years. I had to inject it past the outer rubber seal with a syringe and work it in there. Replacing the clutch...

Re: Why is the Clutch squeaking in my 97 SL1?

Same for me, although injecting shots of Sylglide into the pushrod assembly at the firewall quieted down some. In my case, the squeaking was super annoying when the temps got close to or over 90F....

Re: A/C question

I have a dark green wagon with that black dash and I would say that the AC works sort of OK when it gets 95F and above, but not as good as my Toyota.

When it sits in the sun, I carry a gallon of...

Re: Sway Bar Bushings

I live in the Pacific NW, so no salt, and R&R the bushings wasn't too bad with a cheater bar and 1/2" drive 6-point sockets. IIRC, they had red loctite on the threads.

I replaced mine with...

Re: Mixing orange and green antifreeze

I've been running the Zerex G05 very long-life yellow coolant for 20 years in my S-series for 15+ years, zero problems. Original radiator even. No more Dexcool scum buildup in the expansion tank....

Re: Adding to the Tool Box

I did both jobs with common hand tools. The water pump was a little more awkward, but follow this great video by FiremanCV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwFVKwEwvbQ

Re: Have you ever wondered what the cause of a locked up starter is?

Let us know how the TYC unit fares, always good to have solid recommendations posted since GM OEM quality parts are so scarce now.

Re: Shell Rotella Gas Truck 5w30

I ran the Ow20 Rotella Gas Truck and SUV recently in my Rav4 for 8K miles. Very pleased with the performance. I bought some 5w30 for use in my Saturn or Avalon, will see how that goes and post...

Re: Death wobble at 40 mph and up

That's my suspicion too, possibly a slipped belt. What brand tires? Some of those Chinesium tires have negligible QC.

Re: Is my Saturn done?

I would think it's easier to fly/buy a non-rustbelt car and bring it home and then swap in any parts that are markedly better from the wrecked one.

At least that way you won't have to wonder if...

Re: LUK Clutch Master Cylinder now different product?

I used one of those plastic oral syringes with a 2 inch skinny nozzle to squirt the Sylglide behind the dust seal, then worked the clutch pedal in & out to distribute it around.

It's a bit awkward...

Re: LUK Clutch Master Cylinder now different product?

Well that's annoying! Mine used to squeak when it got >85F. I quieted down my clutch cylinder by injecting Sylglyde into the pushrod/boot on the drivers side of the firewall. Worked for 3 years...

Re: SES light went on, went off 3 days later by itself

+1; It could be several transitory issues, like a cold start misfire on one cylinder/sparkplug where the fouling burned off or some carbon glob in your EGR valve that went away.
