Re: Forum is dull

In all my years on this forum I never knew it was a forum for entertainment value?

All Saturn forums will ultimately go the way of the dinosaur as the cars get older, the newer owners take care...

Re: Rocker Panels

You have to acknowledge the reality that the L series has been out of production for 16 years and Saturn as a company has been closed for 13 years.
That in itself, tells you that many parts for...

Re: Moving On

Paul is correct, the only changes to the C30 were cosmetic rather than mechanical, such as new bumpers, lights, the usual crap that manufacturers do these days to get you to buy a new one. At the...

Moving On

My youngest son has just bought himself a 2011 Volvo C30 as the first car he's bought with his own money. The car that I bought him back in HS was the 2003 Saturn L300 back in 2015. It has served him...

Re: Transmission control solenoid

Couldn't answer that. Others who have the issue have been in various states, so I don't think it's external heat related. One of the things I can tell you is that I watched a youtube video of a CA...

Re: Transmission control solenoid

Jason,
I've done that job on my son's 2003 L300. Here's the link to the job;

When I did the job, my son left the car with me so I was not...

Re: Trailing arm front bushing.

Short answer is I'm not sure. When I did the bushings on my son's L300 a couple of years ago. I did end up removing the trailing arms. It's a big doughnut type bushing that's a mix of rubber and...

Re: L300 Service Wrench with Brake Warning Lamp On

Rock Auto carries them under several brand names in the brake system section of the Saturn L series. Between $6.00 and $12.00, so won;t break the bank item

Re: 2000 L Series V6

Depends on what color the 'smoke' was coming out the tailpipe. Blue smoke is the engine burning oil and it passing through the cat. That's not good. Black smoke can be simply too rich a mixture....

Re: 2000 L Series V6

Chaz,

I found this video on You tube which gives 6 tests (non-intrusive) that you can do to check if you have a blown cylinder head gasket. Some are a little more involved than others, but some of...

Re: 2000 L Series V6

Chaz
It seems that at the moment there are 2 issues; the noise and the coolant question.

The shop should be able to pull the timing belt cover off and see what's going on there. That should ID...

Re: 2000 L Series V6

That could mean a blown head gasket or it could not. This link was quite useful on the subject

Re: 2000 L Series V6

Oil at the rear of the engine could be leaking valve cover gaskets. As a V6, you can easily see the front valve cover, but the rear one is pretty much hidden by stuff on top. As you likely know, the...

Re: 2000 L Series V6

Your car has 130K on it and timing belts on the V6 should be replaced at 100K. Given the low value of most Saturns, spending $1000.00 in garage costs to have the belt and ancillaries replaced...

Re: Trouble with drum brakes on my 2002 L100

New Hardware kits for rear drum brakes run between $5.00 to $8.00 on Rock Auto. That's all the springs and clips for BOTH sides.

I concur with Pierrot, it is false economy to put used springs on...

Re: the old paint trick- invitation to shysters?

This is what I said on my post....

Your paint code in your car is the determining factor though. Only go with that.

Re: the old paint trick- invitation to shysters?

The hood on the L series is good old plain steel. It's only the fenders, door panels and bumpers that are composite.

Dupli-color do Galaxy Silver (if yours is Galaxy Silver) and is easily...

Re: What is causing the heater hose to come loose on my 2003 L-200?

I don't think it has anything to do with 'shysters'. It's all about manufacturing. In the assembly process, all the worker has to do is push and click. In times earlier, the worker has to push and...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Timing Belt Kit + Camshaft + Crankshaft Seals

Mr Braner, I have no wish to get into any debate with you. I was simply pointing out what Dayco had said on their email to Brandon. When Brandon posted their feedback to him, he omitted what Dayco...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Timing Belt Kit + Camshaft + Crankshaft Seals

Re: the old oil consumption trick on the L 4cyl ecotec

Ideally, you need to get the new sender unit first. Rock Auto has them for between $7.00 to $12.00. If you Google the question, you will find a couple of threads that are on this forum, but for the...
