Re: wont go into first gear

Back when we were home owners, the back road we frequently used to get home had a four-way stop with little if any traffic 95% of the time. I would usually coast to the intersection and brake until...

Re: will your car?

On the DOHC (I wouldn't recommend this with the SOHC) engine, it is possible to get the car with a 5-spd transmission rolling without touching the gas pedel. Might be a bit harder with the a/c on...

Re: Which wrench for transmission filter?still confused

Having never done this myself, this is worth about what you paid for it :) The sidewall of most oil filters isn't very thick or hard. That is why it is recommended to hand tighten. Using an oil...

Re: What kind of gas mileage are you getting?

I'm getting 25.0 to 25.75 since I came down to central VA to work.

The best that my wife ever got was 40.17 back on 8/29/05 back in western NY which is flat compared to central VA!

Re: rings cause oil consuption???

The main reason I posted that, was for those who tried the MMO soak and didn't see the improvement in oil consumption that they were looking for.

rings cause oil consuption???

For years, I thought that this site was correct in saying that dirty oil control rings were the primary cause of oil rings in the Saturn 1.9L engines.

Well, I checked the oil over the weekend a...

Re: Possibly Purchasing 1995 SL2 w/140k - What problem should I look for?

The noise you heard was most likely a loose exaust shield which is very inexpensive to tighten down. Saturn exhaust systems should last for the life of the vehicle since they are made from a (low...

Re: Ran out of gas

No, I don't race it! I even took it easier than usual this morning... only up to 70 vs 75 on the highway and shifting earlier 2k vs 3.5k when the lights finally turned green. I really think the cause...

Re: Ran out of gas

The low fuel light came on for me on the way into the office this morning, and every fuel station I passsed was closed on the way in so the wasn't much I could do about it. I'll fill it up on the way...

Re: Man am I glad I found this place!

And where in the world is this magical MMO actually sold? The local Wal-Mart doesn't carry it... at least not with the other automotive products :(

Just one, a switch to activate the Brake Lights when I lift off the gas a tad.

The effect is: Someone following to closely will think I slamed on the brakes when the distance between us starts to...

Re: when i rev my engine to 4200 rpm it starts to break up.

18 mph in REVERSE?!? :whoa: That's way too fast for reverse! They should have limited it to 5 mph or lower yet!

Re: Sl1 & Sl2

Don't be so sure about that... Our '02 SC2 has 4-wheel disc brakes and yes, you can clearly see the rear rotors through the alloy wheels. The car does have ABS and was factory ordered, so it's...

Re: Man am I glad I found this place!

That was the valve cover, not the head.

Did you see the top of the cylinder heads when you took off your 'head'? If not, it wasn't the 'head'.

Re: 94 SL1 Idle Problem

That sounds normal to me and I'm on my 5th Saturn. They all have a higher rpm when moving then they have when standing still.

Well, that fact is exactly why my next vehicle won't be another Saturn or from GM either unless it is a fuel cell vehicle!

Hope that my '02 SC2 holds up long enough  Otherwise, I'll probably...

Yes, on a 2002 Sx2, you mileage is stored in the computer, not in the dash. You have an electronic od.

Re: What needs to be repaired or ???

The rule of thumb that I was taught and still follow to this day is to set aside 50% of the monthly payment every month while making payments and at least $100 per month after payments are finished....
