1996 sl2 RKE module
I am looking to buy a 96 sl2 that the seller says has a bad rke module. It is parked at the dealer and will not start. Does anyone know if this part can be bypassed or is it expensive to replace. I have not taken a look at the car yet. I have a snapon scanner will it list the code for the rke module.

'96 doesn't have the security stuff that '97 and newer has.

I paid $15 at a 'rich smuck' yard for another module for my '97 SC2. Didn't really pay attention to what model it came from, I just made sure it was a '97.

To elaborate, a bad RKE module can't cause a no-start on a '96. There's some other problem you'll have to diagnose (for a substantial discount on the purchase of the car, of course....).
