2001 SL rt hand drive--disconnected fuel line

Today, I went to start my car, and it started and then died instantly. I was with my husband, and he got out of my car, smelled gas, and saw that there was a puddle of gas under my car. I poped the hood, and he claims that the fuel line was disconnected! He snapped it back on, and told me to carefully drive it home. He said that the contectors were sound, and that you would need a special tool to get it off. Is this a random happening or is it impossible for me to have been driving around indefinitely with a fuel line not connected properly? I have been using this vehicle since july--should I suspect saboutage?
Thanks bunches!
Madeline

You don't need a special tool to get the fuel line off. It'll come off with your hand. There's no way you've been driving around with it loose. If you have reason to suspect sabotage, it might be.
