Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

Here is a good Craigslist joke of the day.... $4500 for an SL1!

http://norfolk.craigslist.org/cto/2776943741.html

2002 Saturn SL1 - $4500 (Virginia Beach)

Great running vehicle. Has 97,000 miles. Only selling it because it is too small for us. Call

It's rare to see a decent deal on a Saturn around this area. I'd love to find a low miles twin cammer to replace the SL1, but it's just not going to be easy.

Not a bad price for my area. I'd talk 'em down to 2k. SC2'S are impossible to find, especially 5spd around here. I know that because I had to settle for an SC1. If only I had 2 grand...

Are you asking for donations?

If 100 of us gave $20 each............

Or 200 gave $10 each................... :D

I imagine this is the classic reverse slam? Might be fixable?

This one MIGHT be considered a creampuff, but it is still overpriced.

I'm willing to bet neither pic is of the actual car. I've seen postings for Gen2 sedans that say "not my actual car, but looks just like this one" and the pic is clearly an L series......

This seems like a decent deal for those living in Houston.

http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/2777893900.html
For an SOHC automatic, with a very interesting qualification wrt. the mileage? That's at best a so-so deal. And since when does having a title constitute a selling point? Would you buy a car other than for parts donation without a title?

Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

Considering KBB has it for $2700 in very good cond. I would say its a good buy.
Why is it so many people poo poo at the price of a car. Sure, you can find a steal of a deal out there once in a while , but for most part I find KBB to be very accurate. If this car is in very good condition, and I was looking, I would hand him the 1700 and and feel pretty good about the purchase.

This guy has had this car for sale for almost a year. With that price it will sit right where it is.http://www.hoopersqualitycars.com/inventory.php?MAKE=Saturn

That's nearly my exact car, year, color, options, etc. I bought it with 110k for considerably more than that (yes, I overpaid and regret it). So the price is a good one, I think.

The fact that they mention "have title" right in the headline is actually more concerning then helpful... Why would someone feel the need to say that? Because someone might think it was stolen..? Or possibly to avoid the headaches of a bank-has-title-because-I-owe-money-on-it situation, I suppose.

Even still, I most likely would, unless it can be verified that the car has a junk title. you don't know if the car was stolen and/or the VINs were swapped...

Seems to be a common practice in Houston to say they have title in hand. Not sure the reason. Maybe to inform people that they are ready to sell and that there is nothing preventing it. There are lots of people apparently in Houston who own cars and don't have the title for it for whatever reason. There is a guy who actually advertises in the same section on how they can get you a title cheap for your car. :D

I agree! Sometimes you can find a decent deal up towards DC though.
